Must have product for all do it yourself meat processors.
I don’t normally write Amazon reviews. I typically avoid them. This product I couldn’t resist. Just so you know, I am an average Joe citizen and not a paid product reviewer. When I got this jerky gun I used some basic jerky seasoning. I followed the directions for hamburger use let it sit and began the gun part. Using this gun was a lot of fun. I tested all of the different attachments and preferred the flat tip compared to the round tips to make jerky sticks with hamburger. I’m sure the round tips are great if you want to make your own smoked pepperoni sticks but I have not ventured that far yet. I made a very large batch of jerky, easily, and had a lot of fun doing it. Now onto the product review. What I liked about this product: the gun was very easy to use. The rear charging handle sometimes got in the way of the tight space on the inside of a smoker. That can be resolved by removing the racks and making your jerky sticks first or simply rotating the main canister. Nobody likes cleaning but it went well. The gun disassembles so that you can get the little pieces of fat that will remain in some of the smaller areas. I really like that this gun is built like a tank. Every piece is very solid and very durable. You might call it military grade.Dislike: The only thing that I was not disappointed in, but a little surprised was that the writing on the side of the gun did not last the first washing. It came off very easy and smudged onto my hands. All in all not a big deal, at least now it’s gone after the first wash no longer for me to worry about.I highly recommend this jerky gun. The snack sticks are just like you might buy at the store and cooked quickly on my Traeger grill. The snack stick size took approximately an hour and a half at 200°.In my opinion this tool is a must have item for all do it yourself meat processors, jerky connoisseur‘s, or anyone with very hungry boys. Great product! Thank you.

Great shooter for the money......
Works way better than the one I had before. The gasket free design is a plus. I always spray some cooking spray on the piston, inside the drum and inside the tips before using. Others have started the issue cleaning the double tip since you can’t slide the lock ring entirely off, mine slides down enough with some help that I can use the smaller brush to clean everything out. I’ve used other shooters and this one operates allot smoother, I do recommend this gun. Only down side is I should’ve gotten the one with the bigger tube, send you get a good couple runs going and your already empty.

Very efficient way to make Jerky
I received the Jerky gun 2 days ago. Sincer I opened the box, 3 different batches of Jerky came out of my kitchen and they are fantastic! Before the Jerky Gun it took at least 3 times longer to make the Jerky Strips and the portions were very variable. Now I get lovely looking strips that are easier to dehydrate. REALLY GOOD BUY!

Great jerky gun! No instructions.
Who sells an appliance without any instructions? This company--Delta Prime Savings Club. There was 1 single card that showed how to pull the piston back, with a parts description on the back. Nothing else. I guess they thought it was self-explanatory. It is somewhat, but not entirely. The box of jerky cure and spices that I purchased separately from NESCO, had better instructions. With the two combined, I figured it out and made some great jerky!I realize this company doesn't sell the spices or cure, but it SHOULD include Before and After steps to using it just for safety sake, in my opinion. (Like, 'you have to cure and season the meat before putting it in the jerky gun to form it.' And 'you should use a food dehydrater for best results in drying out your jerky...or an oven at 145°F'.)It would also be nice to know if any and all of the parts are dishwasher safe. I have no idea. I washed everything by hand, which was pretty easy with the brushes they provided except the nozzle end that I used. I had a hard time getting the bits of meat out from in between the metal nozzle and the plastic ring that attaches it to the gun, because the 2 pieces don't entirely separate. All of the other attachments completely separate from the plastic ring, so there's no problem with cleaning them. The brushes included with the gun are perfect though!I only made one kind of jerky with this gun--I didn't try out all 4 of the attachments. After mixing in the cure and seasoning packets with 2 lbs. of ground beef, I loaded the barrel by hand with small blobs of meat. I didn't bother with the funnel and plunger, because I didn't feel like dirtying more parts and it was fine loading it by hand. Then I put the handle on the end and squeezed out small (6-inch) strips onto the plastic tray-insert (for fruit leather and jerky making) on my dehydrater tray. It was a bit difficult getting nice clean breaks between stopping one set of strips and starting the next. Maybe use a knife? The 2 lbs. of ground beef made 4 trays worth of beef jerky. It only took about 3 hours to dry the flat strips that I made, at 145°F in my dehydrater. I also flipped each strip over about halfway through that drying time and patted the oil off of each one. Flipping it made it dry more uniformly.I'll have to experiment with the drying times and what my family likes best using the other attachments. All in all, I liked this jerky gun. I think if you've had zero experience making jerky or dehydrating things, it would be hard to figure out exactly what to do though.

This makes making jerky EASY!
I don’t understand any of the negative reviews, I just got done making 11lbs of jerky and have been bragging how easy it was to use and clean. The dual jerky spout does trap some fat but I cleaned it with a knife and ran it through the dishwasher. The entire cleaning process takes 3 minutes. I have already recommended this to 4 of my friends that hunt. I would give it 10 stars if available.

wicked easy
First time using one of these.worked exactly as it should have. Time will tell how durable this unit is, noticed an issue with the tube treads , they were kinda chipped, little black bits clinging to them, also temperamental at threading on until some grease from the meat got on the threads. Will be using this alot if the rate of the beef sticks continue to dissappear as quickly as they have.
