A great solid no-nonsense great value flashlight which takes AA or 14500 batteries. Obviously 14500 is brighter than AA but the AA 255 lumen turbo brightness is good in its class even with 1.2V NiMh. Both batteries have a 0.5lm Eco mode, but there is a really important difference here. With AA there is no mode memory but it always lights in Low. Unfortunately there is mode memory with 14500 so there is no certainty about what level it comes up in. Both with AA and 14500 it is impossible to get to Eco without going through bright modes, not a good UI. Thrunite on a sideswitch flashlight would never have made that mistake. Then look at the lockout. Four fast clicks to lockout confirmed with two flashes. Then every time the button is pressed, two flashes. In fact two medium bright flashes. I would have preferred low level flashes or none at all when locked out. Finally, a bit mean not to include a diffuser with a tail-standing design.
