It's Good
The case is nice, sturdy, and a little bulky. I'm a petite woman with small hands, but I like that the case has got some mass to it. This is because having a firm grip means I'm less likely to drop it. I got it in black and it's a nice matte black as it is in the photos. I'm pleased with it.I haven't dropped my phone with the Otterbox case on, so I can't attest to whether the main reason for getting the case works or not. I'm hoping the situation stays that way, tho!* EDIT: I wrote the above in 2020. It's 2023 and I recently dropped my phone on pavement. It was a hard enough drop that my phone bounced on its edge. But it's fine! The case protected it like it's supposed to! I just changed my headline from "Seems Good" to "It's Good" for that reason, because it proved itself.* FINAL UPDATE: The case lasted for about 4 and 1/2 years, and now I'll need a new one. Plan for it to last less than 5 years. How it failed: Regular use deteriorates the case's weak points over time. A plastic, flap-like piece is on the outer top cover. That piece secures the top to the bottom of the case. A light push on it lets the user simply lift the cover off. With repeated use, that plastic, securing piece on the cover weakens over time. Today, it failed and snapped. Another part failed similarly a while ago. The bottom part of the case is a rubbery shell, which has a flap that covers the outlet port. That flap also failed due to repeated, regular use over time. It ripped at the base. The outlet port cover failing was something I could ignore, because it wasn't a big deal. But I can't ignore the cover piece's failure since it's key in holding the case together.

the best case hands down
fits like a glove and keeps the phone from slipping around so much. it does make the phone like twice as heavy, though. it's my second time buying this exact case, and the first one lasted a few years, so clearly it's built well.

Ultimate protection
You can never go wrong with an OtterBox case if you're looking for rugged protection. It might cost more than other brands but it's really a case of you get what you pay for. I really wouldn't trust a $800+ dollar phone in a $10 case. If you've ever had a defender case, this one is no different. It adds a bit of bulk but it's not enough to complain about and really, the bulk is what protects it in the event of a drop. It has a decent lip going around the front of the screen so if you place your phone screen down or if it falls screen down on a flat surface , it will be safe. It also works with my screen protector without any rubbing which is nice. The outside of the case is nice and grippy but won't collect lint in your pocket or be a pain to slide in and out of your pocket. The back is also nice and grippy so it won't slide around if you set your phone down on it's back. Like I mentioned earlier the case adds a little bulk but my phone still is able to charge on both an Anker wireless charger and the Pixel stand. Google Pay also works without any problems. I've also wiped my phone with alcohol wipes and germ killing wipes many, many times and it doesn't affect the case one bit.

Great case
Bought it for my son's phone and it looks and feels VERY durable. I don't worry about him dropping his phone with the on it.

Keeps phone safe
This is a great phone case which I pair with a screen protector. My phone has gone bouncing down the street (accidentally, of course) and my phone had not a scratch and was in full working condition afterward. The only thing I don't like is having to replace it every few months since the soft outer case loosens up over time.

Reliable Case from a Realiable Name
My Pixel 4 finally had enough and I needed to replace it. I didn't want to go too crazy - I use the phone for very little. I decided to go with the refurbished Pixel 4 XL (keep in mind, you can easily flash a new ROM to these to get rid of the bloatware and they run quite nicely). Of course, I needed a case because I have a terrible habit of beating on my phones.Otterbox has long been one of my go-to brands for cases. This one does not disappoint. You could throw your phone across the room (I'm not advocating that you do this) and it will likely be fine. When combined with a good screen protector, you should be good to go even in rough conditions.
