I'm a hairdresser. No, it will not lighten your hair. It is a semi-permanent color, meaning it will only deposit color on the hair shaft. It will gradually wash out.

Q: How long can I expect the color to last?

It last a good while. I use shampoo for color treated hair and that helps. It really depends on how often you wash your hair. I believe it states it lasts for 28 shampoos. It's really a great product and the conditioner that comes with it is fabulous!

No this product does not contain peroxide.
