Because it's not rocket science: this is just a plain old bylon webbing belt with a quick release buckle for cinching in your waders so you won't drown if you fall into the water. It has a quick release buckle in case you have to bail out of your waders in a hurry. The belt also handy for hanging stuff on. I keep an ammo pouch for tackle, an icepick for killing fish I'm not releasing, a pair of forceps for removing hooks, and a pair of stainless kitchen sheers for cutting line and such on the belt. In fact it's so useful for keeping all those geegaws handy that I wear it even when I've left the waders at home.But it's just a webbing belt. You could probably save a buck or so by going to the climbing counter of your local outdoor outfitter and buying the requisite webbing ans fastex. Or you could just buy this and be happy.

This belt, when buckled, will keep water from rushing in should you slip and take a dive. It is made of that tough plastic that gun handles are made from. It can be unsnapped in a moment - if you need to get out of your boots fast. I use them because I play too close to the water.

When it comes to safety you should pay attention to your gear. My old belt was starting to stick in the buckle release. This was a good option to replace my old one.

Excellent. The buckle is easy to use & secure, it is a plastic snap on each end of the strap, one end simply snaps into the other end. Solid enough. The strap material resists becoming permanently bent when stored in a pile, & the strap material appears waterproof. What a bargain find.

Very well made, and will keep you from filling your waders if you slip. It's a must have in deep or fast water. Could save your life
