Rush Paperback – December 10, 2013

Carson Taite does a fabulous job creating characters who are easy for me invest in. "Rush" is no different.Great main and secondary characters, an engaging mystery and romance, I was all in from page one.My only complaint, two intelligent, strong, and accomplished women could have cleared many of their personal issues up with a single conversation. It would not have diminished the conflict/drama of the overall story, but would have been a little more consistent with two such tough ladies.

This was another legal story from a good writer who is consistent in delivery. She knows the law well and courtroom procedure. Story was interesting. Struck the right balance with narrative and dialogue.

I love her books and this one definitely does not disappoint. If you like mystery, cops, lawyers and love you definitely need to give this a read. I love that I never see what coming. I try lol. But I'm always suprised. The main character are well developed and her supporting character are sweet and sassy. Totally worth the time you will spending reading. You don't be disappointed.

There's a nice mystery mixed in with a fairly believable love story. As with most of Taite's books, there's an unnecessary wrinkle in the relationship that breaks them up for petty reasons using hurtful words, supposedly to add tension to the book until they can finally resolve it like adults. But setting that aside, the book is written well and has believable characters that you can root for. It's a good read.

The history of a person shapes our interactions with others. All of our hopes, dreams, and past nightmares flavor our tastes for our present and our future. Add some if those relationship Brussels sprouts and Lima beans to a load of present day obstacles, and letting go to love is even more difficult.

Storyline is brilliant, the two female characters not so. Drop the lesbian angst between them this book would be 5 stars. They are a distraction to the criminal drama and the mystery that is woven into the book.

Rush catches and holds the reader's attention as aged, sorority alumni die. Not much angst, but the romance line keeps one wondering. I enjoyed this book. It was different but intriguing.

I really loved Rush by Carsen Taite. I love the lawyer setting. Danny and Ellen were walking a fine line. Excellent story.

Lies and keeping up a front haunt Ellen and stop any hope of a relationship - but how can she have one while there is a serial killer whose victims are all members of her sorority and indeed her mother's sorority..... What does Danny want apart from avoiding women who cannot be faithful....Another well written, well developed page turner from Ms Taite .... Good characters plus a few familiar faces and a credible serial killer thread. I enjoy anything Carsen writes and this hasn't dropped her standards at all..... Roll on the next one....

For a detective style story written by an ex criminal defence lawyer, a Lambda Literary Award finalist and such a productive author, this novel was really quite amateurish and disappointing. It was predictable and perfunctory.

So deserves five star, would give more if they were permitted.Great story line, good characters couldn't put it down.Totally recommend this bookYet another winner from Carsen Taite :)

Two different worlds collide, bringing attraction and fireworks

Staatsanwältin Danielle Soto und Ellen, die bildhübsche Leiterin einer Studentinnenvereinigung, treffen aufeinander, als Erstgenannte in einem Mordfall ermittelt. Danielle ist sofort entzückt und Ellen sofort willig. Ellen will aber nur Sex, weil sie irgendein Geheimnis mit sich herum trägt, das mit ihrer Familie zu tun hat....oder Geheimnisse...und sich selbst schützen will. Ihre Privatsphäre ist ihr heilig, und so hat sie zwar keine Probleme, Danielle zu sich nach Hause einzuladen und ihr gleich an die Wäsche zu gehen, sehr wohl aber Scheu, mit ihr über Privates zu reden. Einerseits will sie eben nur Sex, andererseits doch Liebe, und bei Danielle ist es ähnlich. So wissen beide wechselweise nicht so, was sie wollen, werden noch von Danielles Arbeitskollegin Sarah angebaggert, geraten ins Visier des Mörders, erleben Schrecken und Leidenschaft, und dann....na, ich will es nicht verraten, sollte sich jemand diese verworrene Geschichte tatsächlich antun wollen.Für mich war dieses Buch ziemlich unerträglich. Einziger Pluspunkt: zumindest die Hauptcharaktere waren attraktiv beschrieben, so dass ich mir gerne was darunter vorstellte, aber das war es auch schon. Die Mordfälle und ihre Ursache wirkten auf mich recht konstruiert und dienten aus meiner Sicht nur dazu, die ziemlich flache Liebes(?)geschichte inhaltlich einzubetten. Auf diese Weise blieb beides in den Ansätzen stecken, so dass man bei RUSH weder von einem richtigen Krimi, noch von einer Love Story sprechen kann. Am meisten genervt hat mich diese Absurdität einer immens hohen Lesbenquote: gefühlte 90 Prozent aller weiblichen Charaktere dieses Buches waren lesbisch bzw. offen für alles. Und alle waren ziemlich sofort für sexuelle Abenteuer bereit. Das Ganze bekommt noch eine absurdere Note dadurch, dass es sich bei Studentenvereinigungen in der Regel um eine Ansammlung von Absolventinnen/ Studentinnen/ Mitgliedern konservativerer Kreise handelt. Aber niemand, absolut niemand hatte ein Problem damit, dass die schöne Ellen mit Frauen herum machte; es wurde nicht mal thematisiert.Es gibt ja bekanntlich Leserinnen, die lieben diese lesbischen Geschichten, die in einer irrealen Scheinwelt spielen. Ich persönlich mag es gern ETWAS realistischer. Vor allem fehlten mir in diesem Buch Spannung und ein roter Faden. Es gibt sicher noch schlechteres, aber grundsätzlich von mir keine Leseempfehlung.
