Bought this for a friend. I’ve been shucking oysters for about 60 years and have never used a glove or any other protection and I’ve never been cut. These knives are the best in my opinion. There is a slight bevel on the ends which shucking much easier. Most of your knives have a protective shield around the flat blade and they are useless. Those are how you get injured much like using a screwdriver.

The easiest oyster knifes to use, and ergonomically sound. Very sturdy construction to break open the oyster, but yet not so thick that you can't finish opening the oyster by sliding the knife down the side to free it from the shell to open it half shell as desired. I have several different kinds of oyster knifes, but this one is my go to first.

We enjoy oysters, however we do not enjoy the up-sell cost when ordering while dining out. We found that we could purchase them locally at a restaurant supply for 1/3 of the cost. After viewing many online videos we ordered this set with much anticipation of oysters at home. The package arrived in a timely manner and we used it the day it was received. The gloves were thick and provided the protection we were looking for as novices, the knives felt comfortable in our hands and easy to utilize, within moments we had our first of many oysters opened (we purchased a 30# box of approximately 5 dozen). The bent tip of the knives made it easy to detach the muscle part of the shells. We are looking forward to enjoying oysters at home regularly now.We substracted a star for the wooden holder, which we enjoyed using but broke after the first use. It is held together with staples which apparently were not made to withstand the amount of oysters we were shucking.

Knives are strong and sturdy and easy to use (oysters are not easy to shuck without practice). Gloves were a little flimsy and could use a little more grip.

Bought these and shucked nearly 100 dozen oysters myself with them. Other people also used them and we shucked a total of 350 dozen.The instructions that come are hilarious and probably the best part. The gloves aren’t good for much protection against penetration. They are slightly slice resistant but this isn’t a major factor.The wooden holder is actually useful. I would put an oyster in the holder on a dish towel which was then wrapped up and over the holder and between my hand and the oysters. These knives are OK.There are better ones available that other folks also had at our small gathering. OXO black handled oyster knives have a wider blade with a more pronounced bend in it. The handle is also larger and more ergonomic. The OXO knives became preferred by everyone.These work, but the OXO ones are a better option.

Very heavy duty but tip/blade seems a bit too wide and dull.
