You’re not buying an A-Wing
I’m not the first and I won’t be the last, but you’re not buying an A-Wing. You’re buying a TIE Fighter.Only the first product picture is of an A-Wing and if you read the paragraph that is the item name or looked at any of the other product pictures, then you would know you’re about to buy a TIE Fighter.I didn’t do any of that and now look at me, writing a review on Amazon telling you what not to do. Don’t make the same mistake as me. Don’t become a statistic.

Excellent value!
Expanding my existing Squadrons and also doing repaints on 1st Edition ships to field, using my 2nd Edition cards, dials and base cards. These TIE’s are currently super cheap @ $8-$9, as well as other 1st Edition ships. With the conversion kits going for $20-$26, depending on factions, it makes economic sense to convert some ships, as the final costs are cheaper than buying 2nd Edition ones alone. Just be careful, as some 2nd Edition ships have new cards, that aren’t available in the 2nd Edition Conversion Kits, I believe the C-Roc is one of them. Additionally, there are 2nd Edition ship sculpts that you may want instead, like the X-Wings closing S-foils, the B-Wings rotating cockpit, or the Fangs movable wings.... etc. aren’t available on 1st Edition ships. In certain instances, a conversion kit may not even be necessary, as you’re only able to field a certain point value each game. Models come with multiple ship base cards, so using 2nd Edition ship dials and items, on repainted 1st Edition ships of the same type is more than doable. It adds variety to the games and I think it’s fun. Having the entire Rebel Gold, Red, Blue, Phoenix Squadrons or an entire Imperial Squadron of Black, Blue, Yellow or Red TIE Fighters or Interceptors. Maybe each Imperial Fleet and Rebel Cell had its own colored fighter squadrons and there were many. I think the possibilities are endless.

Still an old favorite, with awesome pilots
I am writing a series of reviews of the X-Wing Miniatures expansions. My criteria for reviewing each expansion is how well it can be used in a standard 100-point game, as well as the usefulness of the included upgrade cards. I do not consider the mission (if one is included). My ratings are based on the fighter's usefulness in semi-competitive play. If you just want the model and don't care so much about its usefulness in competition, I will offer a blanket review that all of these miniatures are outstanding for the price. They come pre-painted, and are usually very-well detailed. On to the play review:This expansion is still a must-have. While the FO (First Order) fighter expansion is a significant upgrade, this pack is still a must-buy for one reason: Pilots. The pilots included in this pack are indispensable, and are worthy of a try in competitive play, even now. Howlrunner and Backstabber are both extremely useful in rounding out a squad and can give opponents some frustration in deciding whom to shoot at. Used well, Backstabber attacks with three dice, while Howlrunner is a good squad buff, allowing friendly ships to re-roll attack dice.Original Tie Fighters have always been useful for swarms--you can field eight level-1 pilots in a 100-point game, with the option of adding Howlrunner at the expense of two ties. Though the game has evolved and the meta has made swarms less useful (each ship only rolls two attack dice--three attack dice has become more and more the norm), the pilots in this pack are still extremely useful. If you plan to run a swarm, I suggest buying only one or two of this expansion, and adding the rest via base sets (each comes with two Tie Fighters).

Not an A-wing as pictured.
NEW UPDATE! STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE PICTURE DISCREPANCY. NOW ALSO LISTING ON EBAY WITH THE SAME ISSUES. Thought I was buying an a-wing because of the picture but ended up with a TIE fighter instead. Yes, it's correct in the description and the product was fine and all. But maybe drop that misleading pic. UPDATE! THREE OTHER REVIEWS MENTION THE MISLEADING PICTURE AND IT IS STILL UP!

A Fine Addition To Your Collection
If you play X-Wing miniatures, you need this ship. If you don't play X-Wing but love the Empire, you still need this ship. The model is of excellent quality, though the glue to the plastic peg beneath cockpit can come off. That is only an issue if you play X-Wing and that's why I gave this ship 4 stars. If you're an X-Wing player, especially an Imperial player, this is a good expansion to have. A single generic TIE Figther isn't that useful (except for blocking other ships) because it only has 3 hull, no shields, and an attack value of 2. That said TIE Swarms are fun and the pilot "Backstabber" is a lot of fun to use.

Nice Job - Global Gaming Warehouse!
The product was as expected, but the delivery was sooner then expected, so kudos to the folks at Global Gaming Warehouse for the quick turnaround.

Arrived in good time and in good repair
Arrived in good time and in good repair. As long as you know what you are getting into when buying into X Wing and understand the piece is meant to supplement and not be a standalone, you're golden.

Chock full of TIE Fightery awesomeness!
I bought this TIE Fighter as an expansion for my original two that came with my core set. The fighter comes with solid pilots like "Howlrunner" and "Backstabber" that have veryvery beneficial abilities for any Imperial player. It also has the Swarm Tactics upgrade which is another good card for Imperial players. The model itself arrived in excellent condition and with no missing or damaged parts or pegs. All in all, I'd call this an excellent purchase experience.

The Swarm
I bought two of these building up my TIE Swarm.I the model is fine, I like them, the detail is good.Game-wise, the pilot card I like the best is Backstabber, give him a boost upgrade, (Falcon) have him doing a bit of Backstabbing and he's all bad news. Howlrunner is popular too as he allows any friendly ship at range one to re-roll one die. This is powerful game-wise, however it means flying in a very tight formation with him, and aesthetically I don't like it. Youtube has videos on it which will illustrate what I mean.I have been running eight Academy Pilots and I feel this is strong enough. The reason I am doing this is I am still fairly new to the game, the pilots can't have any upgrades, (anyone reading my other reviews will see one mistake I made in my core set review) so this allows me to have a strong force and concentrate on the basics. I can leave the shenanigans to my opponents, and just note down in my mind anything that appeals to me.So my Swarm is serving me a purpose game-wise at the moment, and I feel is cannon enough film/background-wise. There also seems to be more Rebel than Imperial players where I'm playing, so it's serving a purpose there too.If you want a complaint, it would be upgrade cards, there's only two, Determination, and Swarm Tactics. I now have an Adrenaline Rush card that I got with the TIE Bomber, I will use this card and feel it would be useful elsewhere, damn the trap. ;-)

A worthy addition to the Fantasy Flight X-Wing miniatures game.
A high quality nicely detailed miniature for the Fantasy Flight X-Wing game. Happy with my purchase. A word of caution: The stand is a little fragile, so be gentle when you attach the miniature to it.
