Love the coat but beware of the hood size! I bought a size 12, as write ups said size was generous. First time I used the hood I realised it only covered the back half of my head! Advised by seller that this was because the hood was made to 'pancake' when not in use. I'm okay with that but should still be fit for purpose. After an exchange of emails and at my suggestion, the company agreed to exchange the detachable hoot for one from a size 18 coat, as they said the hoods increased by approx. 1 inch per size. I paid for the return of the hood and have the larger one now. This still doesn't come right over my head so I've given in and removed the hood and fittings and now just have a nice red coat.If you want to use the hood then avoid this coat and go for their other style with hood that isn't detachable.

This is a lovely, well-made coat. The colour is nice and bright, when so many around seem to wear dark, drab winter colours! I agree with other reviews that say the hood is small, - no good if you are 'prissy' about messing your hair up! Overall, an excellent purchase that I am delighted with, and would recommend to anyone to buy.

It`s all it should be and as described.As for the "pancake hood". i am very happy with it. It makes the collar stand up slightly and make the silhouette gorgeous.It looks like you`ve turned up the collar for a kool look. I`m not one to use a hood. It spoils my hairdo.I rely on umbrellas!The fabric is robust. As for someone who said it was scratchy or rough......what do you expect? Its a duffle coat. The fabric will do fine for our U.K. Winters.I don't intend wearing it next to my bare skin, therefore I don`t think I`ll notice any roughness! I wish I had bought this coat when I lived in the Highlands of Scotland! Heavy, warm and cosy.The colour is red, not a garish, or too burgundy red. Just a classy colour.As for size. I am top heavy. I have small hips. I contacted customer service and they were very helpful. I bought a size 12. My bust is 39", the actual garment is 44" across the bust. Luckily the hips aren`t too big, just nice. I`m happy, and would recommend this maker and coat.

This is a beautifully made coat - unfortunately I had to send it back (I paid for return) as the fit was not quite right for me. I am a standard size 10 and ordered a 10. It was too snug around the shoulders and when I put the hood up it felt very restricting. However, around the hips it was too wide. The coat is very heavy and as I am only 5ft 3" it just didn't feel comfortable. Probably would be fine on a taller person. Such a pity I had to send it back as its a good quality product, worth the money and would last a lifetime.

I do like it, but I think it's quite badly cut. I am a size 8 or 6, and as soon as previous reviewers complained about the coat being too big, I decided to go for the smaller size. So now I have got a coat which is tight on my shoulders and chest, but good for sleeves lenght and on the middle and bottom part. The bad thing is that, unlike regular Amazon purchases, you have to pay to send the coat back. I will keep it, but I am not happy about it, as it was not clearly stated.

I was quite disappointed with the quality of the coat. The wool and of the frog fastenings were not great. The wool felt itchy on the skin and the fastenings looked like they were made of plastic. The coat had no zipped closure, which is not very efficient in a winter coat, as it doesn't filter wind very well. The coat is also not as warm as expected. The hood is also very small and could not cover my whole head.The fit was as expected, slightly large but that helps with big winter jumpers.Decided to return it.

As with most things, the sleeves were too long, but that's not the manufacturer's fault. This coat is so warm and shrugs off showers thanks to the wool content.

Very warm winter duffle coat. I bought the red one and its a nice red and very smart. Fabric is a little firm due to thickness but expected as its very good quality and expect years of use.
