Outdoor lamp ambient light sensor failed.
I doubt many people need one of these, but I did, and found it to work exactly as advertised. One of my outdoor lamps had a light sensor fail, and this took only a few minutes to install. Good deal.

Works perfectly. Small compact size fit within fixture cover.

Working Great
Needed a small D2D switch to fit in the base of a wall light on the porch. So far working great.

It works - briefly
Update - 2 weeks laterMy optimism was unfounded! This failed within 10 days. Fortunately, I bought a few of these so I replaced it with a new one. It lasted less than a week!!Not happy!I got this to replace one on a porch light. It worked well (it takes about 30 seconds to detect the change in ambient light). Would buy it again, but hopefully not for another few years!

4 or 5a at 120v check your application needs.
I got this for my bug lights. It works fine for a 1/2 acre light. But the 1.5 acre light pulls about 8-10 amps. Check your application requirements. The formula for current is Power in watts/ Voltage in volts = Current in Amps or P/E=I.

good cheap fix
inexpensive fix and has not caught on fire yet.

Works as it should
I have two strings of outside lights. I mounted one of these sensors in the lead light in each string so a single sensor controlls the whole string. Works as it should. Size is compact enough to fit my lights. If used to control lighting besure to place the sensor so it is not in direct view of a light bulb. I purchased extras to replace future failed units.

Electronic photo-relay, uses photodiode for accurate illumination measurement
I needed a very small relay for controlling LED light at my entry door, and I was looking at very low idle power consumption for continuous operation. This device has ~0.4W self power consumption, and (surprise) uses a photodiode (not CdS photoresistor) for accuracy on turn on/off light levels. It also has a delay function of ~10 seconds and a hysteresis of on/off thresholds. I did not tear it down, but I believe it uses a decent electronics circuit. It is sensitive enough to turn on really at dusk, not mid-day as other, more primitive thermal sensors do.To those who reported flickering - never place the sensor facing direct light of the luminaire it controls - it will result in continuous on/off cycle with a period of 10seconds. Make sure that there is a shade or other isolation to only let ambient light on the photosensor.
