If they work, they work fine.
I have purchased these items before, and have tried again most recently from the Amazon Marketplace again. The reality, however, is that the penlights work well WHEN they work, but it is a crap-shoot if you receive working items. With six (6) penlights received, one (1) did not work from the get-go out of the packaging material. Two (2) failed withing the first week of light use. The remaining three (3) are still working, for the most part, after one month of use. I say, "for the most part" because although the light is strong enough, I must put some direct pressured on the batteries at the top of the penlight into the casing to re-engage the ability of the metal pocket clip to make the light work again. With the failed penlights, no intervention helped me with the failed out-of-the-package penlight, nor the other two that failed in the first week. Still, this work around is a less than stellar option when working with a patient. On the other hand, the pupil gauge is a nice touch. And the last two are working just fine, for now.I purchased these items through an Amazon seller. They did not manufacture the item, but they received a less than stellar review for not replacing failed penlights after the representative there (or owner) said they would (BP MEDICAL SUPPLIES). They were responsive in their emails, and courteous, but never followed through on getting the replacement items back to me as promised, unfortunately. Hence, my poor review for them.Nonetheless, since I was purchasing these items as economy replacements for a more expensive penlight that required me replacing the batteries, I've found that the more expensive single penlight is a better option for me (I just need to keep the more expensive penlight on a short leash so that it doesn't get lost). However, these economy penlights, when they do work, work well and I like them when they are functioning well; and if I lose one, then it's not the end of the world. If you can get them for a half a buck a piece, I'd say they were worth it and may offset the lack of reliability out of the package. Else, I was dissatisfied with the number of penlights that failed so soon and will probably not buy them again unless I get a great deal on a bulk number (but, as I mentioned, the ones that survived for the month are, for the most part, great).

#1, far and away
Oh the world of penlights! Rattling batteries, buttons that don't work anymore, too bright, too dim, too big to fit in My medic pants, Broke after a fall, not efficient, no pupil gauge on light, battery dies too fast. Lets just say I have seen them all! And in my craft, these are a must! All re- usable models are a joke. And not having the on button as the clip, is just not ergonomic. Also for a right handed gent like myself, pupil gauge is exactly where it should be. I'm on my second set of these, each one lasts about two months. And for six bucks I'm fine with that, and if I happen to loose one....oh darn there went a buck. And hyper white is for non medical penlights. Try to put that in someone's eyes, especially the old or young. This light is perfect, and I'm thankful to have found one that fits the bill. And with prime it's on my doorstep in two days. On a side note, after seeing me in action, on scene with these little babies, the rest of our company has converted. And thankfully, It was getting old loaning my light out on scene for rapid assessments, due to lights malfunctioning and not working. Especially when time is everything! Thanks ADC, Sincerely A.V.G Firefighter/Medic Colorado

Perfect for medical professionals
This review is for medical professionals, but probably applies for most uses of pen lights. Beware some of the fancier lights on here, I almost bought one before taking a closer look. It's best not to buy 1 light because 1.) they are more expensive; 2.) you are prone to lose or contaminate pen lights so disposable is the way to go 3.) some of those are too bright for medical purposes. These 6 disposable lights, essentially a buck each for what I paid, are awesome. They are small, light, easily portable in a white coat. Because you have to press the clip against its metal counterpart, when clipped onto a pocket or something, it reduces wastage of the battery by accidental discharging. The light is nice and bright (but not too bright) for examining eyes, oral cavity, skin lesions, etc. It has pupil gauge measurements on the side, which aren't that helpful to me, but hey might as well write something on it. If you contaminate or lose one, or the battery dies out, it's no big deal, just replace it. I'm sure 6 will last at least 6-12months, depending how much you use them. I will update to give a rough idea of how long the battery lasts. I look forward to using these and buying more!

These little but very useful penlights saved my life more than once
These little but very useful penlights saved my life more than once, they are practical, easy to use and to carry around. They have a well balanced light that can be useful for checking pupil reflexes and also to scout a sore throat or such. The battery on this thing lasts about 2-3 hrs of continous use (Wich is pretty decent). However, the activator switch is a bit annoying after a fair ammount of use and the fact that they are disposable is not very appealing when you need something constant in wich you can rely on, don't get me wrong these are trustworty penlights, but if you're like me and need something to last for a very long time then you better look for a non disposable unit.Overall great product, pretty well made and very usefull despite its size.
