Exceptional Flashlight
I can't say enough good things about this flashlight. I'm in the US Navy and I work on a submarine which means I need a reliable, rugged flashlight for my day-to-day tasks. If I'm inspecting some lagging tucked behind a giant pipe or a dark bilge in a dimly lit engine room I can see fine details plain as day. This flashlight lights up a large swath with even light, as if you were seeing it outside with natural sunlight. I have dropped it numerous times on steel deckplates from 7-8 feet high as I have been climbing down ladders and it doesn't even flinch, very solid build quality. As you hold it and manipulate it you can really sense that it is a well built product. My favorite feature is the fact that you can switch the brightness easily and consistently. It's the exact same brightness for its respective settings each and every time and it never flickers or fades. You simply press the button on the side and it cycles through five brightnesses. The lowest setting is ideal for when I'm in my pitch black bunkroom and I just need a tiny bit of light to see what I'm doing without waking everyone else in the room up. If I were to turn it up to the max brightness, however, it lights up the entire room as if I had just turned on the room's overhead light (seriously). I have given these as gifts because I like it so much. $75 seems like a lot for a flashlight, but after using this I can't imagine going back to an inferior light. If you do buy it, I recommend buying a couple rechargeable batteries with it. You can find them on Amazon and they only cost about $15 with the charger included. The flashlight actually lasts a pretty long time on a single charge. I use mine regularly for about a month on the second brightest setting before I need to swap batteries. The description lists the approximate runtimes for each setting, though. I prefer keeping mine on the second brightest setting because it is seriously plenty bright for anything I ever need it for and it conserves battery life significantly longer than the highest setting. The only time I could imagine you would need the highest setting is for if you are outdoors and need to search a large area or something like that.Anyways, you won't be disappointed with this light. It is the perfect size and people are always surprised at how such a small tube can put out so much light. The sheath it comes with is handy, too, and so far it has held up great.Hope this review helped you!

Voltage controlled brightness, light filled with excellence. Nothing better.
This is an incredible flashlight. As a first purchase in the professional/tactical flashlight market, or as a do-everything-go-anywhere light, you will not be happier with anything else. Buy a Fenix—this one.I was originally looking to buy a SureFire, something like the E2D LED Defender. I figured that Fenix was a "cheap off-brand" but I was totally wrong. This flashlight is such high quality that I could not imagine how it could be made sturdier. Even the threading for the tail-cap (and flashlight head) are square threaded, which means they were carefully machined and anodized instead of being simply tapped (which would produce weak triangular threads). Even the small holster that it comes with the light is super high quality. I had figured it would be a cheap throw-away holster that I would never use; this holster is made of 1" military spec flat nylon webbing, and it looks incredibly durable. No weak stitching to fall apart here. The entire flashlight is aluminum, Type III hard anodizing; don't expect the black coloration to wear down any time soon, and minor scratches don't show through. The lens is real glass, and shouldn't discolor or fade like plexiglass. The light is incredibly bright as well. I've been used to Black Diamond headlamps which put out a rated 120 lumens. What a change! Although I don't think they are using the same measurement standard as Fenix, this 960 lumen light is seriously, blindingly bright (if not 8x more so). The eco mode on this flashlight puts out enough light for hiking or even light scrambling. With 150 hours of runtime on Eco, you'll never run out of batteries. The Turbo mode is bright enough to be used as a stun weapon, instantly blinding anybody. The only trepidations that I have about this light: I wish the light could tail-stand. As it is now, the rubber on-switch extends past the metal fins, so the light won't stand on its end. I also wish there was a way to instant-on to the Turbo mode, in addition to the normal behavior which remembers the brightness settings last used.Brightness:Level: Eco | Low | Mid | High | Turbo | StrobeLumens: 14 | 50 | 180 | 460 | 960 | 960Runtime: 150h | 38h | 10h | 3:15h | 1:10h | UnknownThe light will only stay on Turbo mode for 5 minutes before dropping down to High. This happens to prevent overheating. The light can be reinstated to Turbo mode by a quick power-cycling (turning off then on again resets the timer), but be cautious as the light could overheat if not well ventilated. Another fault: The light can only stay on High mode for 30 minutes, for the same reason above, after which it will revert to Mid brightness. The brightness is current regulated. This combined with the excellent voltage regulation means that the brightness of this flashlight does not deteriorate as the batteries are depleted. Most lights slowly drop in brightness, and the ratings are only for fresh batteries. This light maintains a constant brightness at all times (caveat: if the batteries get too low, the light will drop down to the next brightness level automatically). I have tested half-depleted batteries and brand new ones sequentially, and the brightness on all levels reads functionally identical on a lux meter. You won't be disappointed if you buy this light, I promise. Lifetime warranty, and good customer service. Overall great product.
