So far, so good. The original battery lasted 14 months before it quit taking a charge and had dropped to 4.5 v. Apparently, they need to drop below 5.4 v before the charger kicks in. Mine never would take a charge and hence the low battery alarm ran continually. I then shut the whole system down until I received this new battery. To test the current charge, press and hold #6 for about 10 seconds. The system will then display the current charge in the battery. If it's 5.4 v or higher you're good to go. IMPORTANT - Google how to change the battery! SERIOUSLY! It's tricky, but not impossible. Actually not that bad, but had I NOT done this I could very easily have ruined the unit. Mine wasn't EXACTLY like the video, but close enough so that by being careful I could swap it without any problems. I powered the system up and pressed #6. Voila! It was showing 6.3 v and the constant beeping (low battery alarm) was gone. It now seems to be holding steady at 6.6 v and the system is working fine. If your battery is failing, seriously consider going this route. It's cheaper through Amazon (no security company markup) AND no service call fee! It really isn't hard. Just watch the video and watch what you're doing. You'll be fine. I am quite pleased with both the battery and with Amazon's service. The people at ADT wanted $25 for this battery, then insisted it was to "complicated" to plug in the battery. WHAT A JOKE!!!! Buy this battery, unplug you security system from the wall, give it a few minutes, open your system carefully, pop your battery out, unplug your battery, plug this one in, pop back in, plug back up.... then call ADT and tell them to kiss your...... This is the exact same battery that came with my system for half the price. It has been in for a while now, no problems, no more annoying beeping keeping me up all night, cause Im waiting for a day that works for me and ADT..... then sit and wait all day, and they call and say.... well, were not going to be able to make it today, be out first thing tomorrow.... Even though we know you took off today and you wont be there tomorrow cause you told yesterday on the phone you have to work...... so...... what other days gonna be good for ya. If you cant tell, I don't like ADT..... but I like the battery..... buy it, save money, my 7 year old could put this thing in.

Our alarm kept beeping, only to find out that the battery was low and needed to be replaced. When calling the alarm co. we were told the battery would be $40 and that didn't include labor which apparently we had a plan that covered the labor. After looking on youtube and seeing how easy it was to replace the battery and finding the product on amazon for the fraction of the cost it was a no brainer. I ordered the battery on a Tuesday and received it that Friday even though the estimated date was as late as the following Friday. Just be aware as others have said it may still beep for hours later since it goes through a charging period after it is replaced. It was put replaced some time after 6pm and by the next morning the beeping had stopped. Supposedly these batteries have a life span of at least 3yrs, I can't comment because we just purchased it. I am very satisfied with the purchase.
