Xact XTS Atomic Overdrive Pedal

It's a great pedal. It looks great, the knobs and pots and switches are super high quality, and it sounds great. I like to see what single notes sound like, not just power chords, and this thing is clean. However, I bought an Amazonbasics green drive pedal last year and I kept going back and forth between the two. They sound exactly the same. And the other pedal is $60. Some professional will probably disagree with my evaluation, and they might be right. But to my ear, there's no difference. But that doesn't take away from this pedal, it does sound great!

Its so hard to buy pedals today, with all the huge variety out there, this one was recommended to my by a good friend, I am glad he did. The sound is great. I use this like a third channel through my clean channel, so I get my lead channel (amp overdrive) a clean channel and then this. Definitely close to a Marshall sound, I may not need to get that second head, maybe. When I add my amps overdrive channel I get more overdrive than needed. You can get quite a lot of different sounds out of this box.

I was looking for a standalone distortion pedal to give me that Marshall-ish tone in the event that I get a backline that only has clean amps. I was not disappointed at all!It has that distinctive Marshall roar in the upper mids and that nice chunk when palm muting on low notes. Setting the gain knob between 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock will give you all the gain you would need for rock and hard rock.Many folks on forums such as Rig-Talk and Huge Racks Inc rave about this pedal and now I realise why. It's not a cheap pedal, especially considering that I am an overseas buyer, but IME, the XTS Atomic OD is worth every penny.

This beauty gets you any era of Marshall you want to get to. Easyish to dial in that elusive Marshall midrange authority, and has tons of headroom. Of course it all depends on what you are playing through. You won't turn a Fender Deluxe into a full on raging 800, but with a British voiced amp, you are on your way. I found you can easily get hot rod Plexi tones without Plexi volumes. That makes club owners and sound guys happy. The tone knobs give you a lot of range in their respective settings. In short, hard to get a bad tone from this box.
