Although is is so simple, it is perfect.
There is apparently small and large versions of this part. The old one that came with my old O'Day 192 was way bigger than this small version that O'Day calls for. Turns out this small version works like a dream, and the big one I had was incorrect, and the reason it is now at the bottom of the lake. Perfect quality, fit, and operation.

Yes can get creative and come up with a device or get this. I purchased it & works well for me. I check for the proper size to fit the mast .
