Anything and everything you ever want or need to know about your merc is in this book. Merc bible is a better name. Seriously. EVERYTHING is in here. Worth the price and better than the internet. Easy to read and understand. Gives you many extras that will help you figure out a multitude of issues. Written in the old school manual language. Tells you how to fix it like they did when your motor was brand new.

This manual lacks clarity and detail in its photographs, often it' s difficult to identify the part they're describing. At times I wondered why a drawing was not used rather than a blurry photo. On some instances there is an overkill in written detail where on others there is insuficient information. Next time I buy a manual I'll check owner's reviews first. Where did John Muire's legacy go?

Perfect book to rewire and restore my 1976 Mercury 500 Thunderbolt 50 hp outboard motor,bought all parts on Amazon saved at least two thousand or more if a shop had done the work.

short of a genuine merc service manual, this is the most complete manual one can find.... dont waste time or money on other brands because no other brand of manual covers mercury outboards as well.

A must have if you repair your own stuff. Not as detailed as a factory manual but I could not have done my repair without it.

Very in depth manual. If you have one of these motors and plan on working on it yourself, it's worth it. Pictures sometimes are a little dark being black and white but not a big deal.

This book is ok for regular maintenance, but don't expect much in the way of troubleshooting problems. Electrical prints on my motor were incomplete. Illustrations were poor. I would expect much more for the money.
