Pfister Pressure-Balanced Cartridge for Tub & Shower Valve, Genuine Replacement Part for 0X8/JX8/VB8/JV8 Valves, Standard Stem, 9740420

Replaced our leaking two pieces valves with this one-piece valve and everything works great. However, does not seem to let as much hot water through. We have adjusted the valve adjust piece as much has it allows, but still just not the same as before. I had already thrown all my old stuff away before really noticing this, but I think that it is just the old adjustment insert has a wider range on the old one. It is not that much notice, but if you like really hot showers, you may notice the difference. I would buy this again, so everything stated above is not a game changer for me. It stopped my leaks, and I thank them for that.

This Price Pfister cartridge worked out great. We were not getting hot water, at least not consistently nor for very long. This is a single unit as opposed to older units that are two pieces. Make sure you know which unit you have by Part number before ordering. Just shut the water main off, open all the faucets in the house to let water drain out and replace. When you disassemble the old unit make sure you cover the drain if you drop any screws. Just take note of the position of the old unit and make sure you replace the new unit same way. Its really an easy fix. Save yourself a plumbers visit $175-$250 and tackle this one yourself. A little suggestion: if your not getting hot water from the shower check your sink in kitchen and bathroom to make sure those faucets are getting hot water; if they are that way you know the bath faucet is probably defective. Causes of lack of hot water are mineral deposits and debris blocking the hot water passage. A plumbers trick is to soak the unit in vinegar for 24 hours to clean it out but for the relative low expense of this unit its probably better just to replace it. The best thing was I only waited 2 days for it to be delivered to my front door. If I went to a local plumbing store probably would have paid $30 -$40 instead of what $24? Love Amazon!

There is a label inside this product, with a correct and recent manufacturing date, but claims the model is 28288-0100 which hasn't been made for a long time; like more than a decade. This feels kind of insane and a good way to waste someone's time. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was burned, since the cartridge I replaced also claimed to be 28288-0100 and I had to poke around a lot (including calling up the manufacturer) to figure out what the proper replacement is. Also, and this is completely my fault, I dropped one of the four screws into the wall and it was impossible to replace from either Home Depot or Amazon or Grainger (brass 10-24 3/4" with I think either a shoulder head or binding head). Every single YouTube video says don't drop the screws into the wall, and I really tried not to. Replaced with stainless steel because that's closest that I could find.

This product saved me over $300 by installing it myself instead of all the local plumbers wanting $100's of dollars or have to cutout my wall. Great product and price.

We had no hot water at our shower but hot water at the sinks so after some research we found this valve was going o need to be replaced. It was a great fit and has no leaks. Be sure to watch a few YouTube videos before you start. There are lots of hints, tips and tricks that will help along the way. The repair was done in about 30 min.

I just happened to come across this product while looking for the older 2 piece version. It is half the price of the 2 piece version. I did install it upside down initially (hot/cold were switched), but it took less than 5 minutes to correct. Hope it lasts as long as the original....

Not sure if it is the plumbing or this, but once installed, with the direction facing up that is on the device, the water temperature is opposite of the way it was. Hot is down now where it used to be up. Not worried about that because this works great. My original one went out so I replaced it with one from our local hardware company for way too much money. It made all sorts of noises and was not smooth in turning. It went out as well. I couldn't find a local replacement so bought this one. This is smooth, quiet, and makes a lot better adjustment to the temperature balance. Very happy with this compared to the last two. Appreciate the great product and hoping that it lasts for a while.

I had replaced the original cartridge that lasted more than 18 years about 2 years ago with a cartridge made by another company (MOEN). It was much stiffer to turn the handle and lasted a little less than 2 years. It started making the pipes vibrate or shake when set at certain temperatures (the hotter the worse). Since I've installed this PFister cartridge, it is very easy to turn and I have no more pipe vibration or shaking. It was very easy to install and so far I am very very satisfied with this cartridge. Would definitely recommend.

This part is exactly what I needed. Replaced a part from Home Depot that caused water hammering and only lasted 6 months. Install was simple and water is very hot again and no issues. Family is happy with results.
