Great way to practice arithmetic!
I know many people don't like math...but what people really don't like...is when they have to do math is it takes too long for them to do and it isn't fun because they have to debug or fix errors...because they aren't practiced in it!I would not say this is the solution to all your math problems...but at least if you start here you can have fun while doing it.I personally enjoyed this game. I am a math major, but I'm not super fast (or good) at arithmetic. My husband is an engineer and he's the one who usually wins, but I'm not too far behind! He's also the one more likely to try and cheat because time runs out for him. What I like about this game is that it is quick, easy to teach, and a good work out for the brain. There are only four rounds in the game, and rules are simple enough. There was one question we had that wasn't exactly clarified in the rules**. I was originally interested in getting this game, because I love it when games give me more than just entertainment; I could practice simple math skills, while socially interacting, and having fun. So while the person with the best math skills is more likely to win, you are always improving your own skills – so you "win" regardless. We also have a 6th grader in our game group and he enjoyed it even though he's not the best at math. I actually got this game to help him with numbers in a way that doesn't kill his or our brain cells. He figured out the second play through what to do and the two of them cut me out of claiming cards at the end.We also got the Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Sydney Padua for "pairing" with this game. I honestly had no idea who Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage were...though I probably heard of them before. I might even have done a school report on them and not recall. We started reading the graphic novel and I definitely think that knowing who the characters are helps solidify the theme and makes the game more interesting. However, the theme is not exact – why are the cogs switching the number places? Why is error represented by Σ (capital sigma) and not ε (lower case epsilon)? Also, Σ (capital sigma) is used in a special ability "When Programming you may place a Σ next to an Operation to trigger it twice for the Operation Result"...which also doesn't match up with what the symbol means (take the sum).Despite this, the game was still enjoyable and I would recommend this game if upping your arithmetic skills or stretching out your math skills is something you're interested in.

Incredibly confusing to learn
If you have an engineering brain and can figure things out, this won't be a problem for you. Although I can problem-solve fairly well, the poor grammar and the fact that the math was done incorrectly (in OUR instruction sheet, at least) made me give up on trying to learn this. I had high hopes considering I would love to teach children math in a fun, easy way but this game just wasn't for me, unfortunately. :/
