PRACTICAL COLOR COMBINATIONS Paperback

To anyone looking here, I strongly advise you to try two books by Teruko Sakurai instead: Modern Colors of Japan and Traditional Colors of Japan, part of her 3 book Japanese Color Harmony Dictionary series (the third book, of colors around the world, hasn't been translated to English yet).ORIGINAL REVIEW: This book is everything I hoped for and more. If you like color scheme books, this is one of the most thorough and detailed I've seen, with information for every single color used, a good reference photo for each scheme, literary, music, art, and other references, RGB and CMYK information for each, beautifully presented in a comfortably compact size. The book is divided into nine emotional categories, including cute, energetic, relaxing, elegant, natural, traditional, exotic, mysterious and simple. There are color and keyword indices.I have used and loved Kuno's Colorscape book for years. This newer book takes things many steps beyond where that book did, giving a clear impression for every color scheme. I use these as inspiration for my artwork. I plan to read this new book from cover to cover. It's that good.PS: The book jacket has the words "COLOR ARRANGEMENT RESOURCE BOOK" wrapped around it in an abstracted font. I was so puzzled about what it said because there is no image of the back and spine online.

This book is full of delicious colour palettes and is full of inspiration. I love the layout and design.

I bought this book to help choosing color palettes while coloring. I have used it with almost every page I’ve colored since I received it. I’d say this is one of the most useful tools I’ve purchased for coloring and love that I can use it for fashion, decorating and anything else I might need a color palette for. There’s a great feature in the back where you can pick a color you like and it tells you what page has that color included in its combo. Great book!

If the color wheel is not helpful, this book is. In addition to so many color arrangements, there is basic color theory in the back. It is a small book, easy to carry in a small bag, but it is packed with information.

I like everything about this book. It is excellent.

I got this because I make jewelry and I am often inspired by color combinations in magazine pictures and nature scenes. This has a lot of combinations, but the pictures are so small that it's harder for me to visualize the balance... or put beads onto the book to match colors. I wish the whole book and especially the pictures were larger.

I am a painter, and am using this book to unify the colors I use in a painting. Beautiful book. Easy to use. Color combinations work well.
