Prisoner of Bogan (v. 2) (Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi)

THE STORY:(25,793 BBY). Exiled on the moon Bogan, the Force Hound Xesh encounters Daegen Lok, a deranged Je'daii with a dark vision of the future. They form an alliance to escape but soon find themselves pursued by a team of Je'daii and a dangerous figure from Xesh's past. Meanwhile, the Je'daii Masters begin to find hints that a new enemy may be lurking in the depths of space, waiting to pounce.WHAT'S GOOD:The biggest problem with the first book of the series, 'Force Storm', was that the timeline, characters and setting was so far removed from familiar Star Wars territory, that it was hard to come to grips with. With this second book, however, the setting is more established and many of the characters are now familiar. Crimelords, travel to diverse planets, lightsaber (technically 'Forcesaber') duels and some traditional light versus dark action makes this book feel much more a part of the Star Wars mythos than the last one. I also particularly enjoyed the way the story took Xesh, a young man raised to use the dark side and resentful of his exile, and paired him up with Lok, a former Je'daii hero who has consciously chosen the dark side in order to use its power in the war he has forseen.WHAT'S BAD:Despite what I've said above, the fact that this story is still far removed from the rest of the mythos remains a negative factor. It's hard to get your head around a Star Wars story with no Jedi, no Sith, no Republic, no Empire etc. The only other serious negative factor is that the Je'daii involved all continue to be largely unremarkable when held in comparison to Xesh and Daegen Lok (the true main characters).OVERALL:A definite upswing for the series and well worth a look, if you can come to grips with the context and setting.

A good book and a good read this book is worth the money. It has a nice style of art and a good story. All I want to know is when is the next one out?

Not bad. It's an original take on Star Wars, and I ordered it since I read the first one. Not bad.

if you are a fan boy this book is for you. dont miss it! the story is awsome and the art very good as well.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS.I really liked the story and the artwork. But some of it was very difficult to read, thanks to a combination of small-ish font and some inexplicable text squish. A long time before the events of the films. Attitudes to the "dark side" are different, and the original Sith species are part of it and have decent intentions.
