Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Classic Trilogy HD - Playstation 3

Okay, so back in the olden times of the PS2, Splinter Cell was the game to play. For me anyway. My sons and I would take turns running the awesome Sam Fisher through his paces. We progressed through all three games and played them over and over. When this trilogy came out, I had to have it. But as with all things I buy on Amazon, or anywhere else for that matter, I read reviews to see what other people have to say about it. They run the gamut from "this is a great games you must buy this games it is great to have" (written by a 12 year old evidently) to people who complain about the lack of new graphics to people like me, who play a nostalgic game and love it for what it is. And that is what I hope this review is going to be about. As a short aside, I have to question my reasoning for caring what other people think. Opinions are just a different point of view, and don't always line up with yours. I can't tell you how many times I've been watching a movie, hop on IMDB to read the reviews and start noticing the little picky things people are carping about. It tends to ruin what could possibly be a good movie. The same, I'm afraid almost happened with this game. But I digress. The original title, "Splinter Cell" starts you out as a newly hired Sam Fisher going through his paces in the training gound of the CIA. Right away I noticed new and better graphics, different rooms and lighting and such. But, consider that this was a game originally created to be played on a PS2. So the cut-scenes reflect this. The second title, Pandora Tomorrow is better graphically, with the same subtle changes I noticed in the first title. And Chaos Theory, my person favorite of the three, is a big improvement over what I played on the PS2. Better graphics, sound, and general gameplay. So all that being said, I'm not going to tell you "you must buy this games it is the best games in the world I play it twenty-four hours a day" because I'm a grown man with the ability to better express myself. So I'll break it down as succinctly as I can. Pros: If you enjoyed playing the originals on your PS2, you'll have fun reliving all the fun and stealthiness on your PS3. Most of the reviews I've read I feel are overly critical and don't really reflect what I see. THREE games on one disc (you can skip from game to game if you want, or have ADD) The graphics ARE updated and what Ubisoft did update they did well but subtley but enough to make the game fresher. Sam Fisher is just a bada$$ Cons: When you first put the disc in, there are some downloads and software that needs to be pulled off the disc and onto your hardrive. That was only a problem for me because I was so excited to get to playing. Shipping was lightning fast and arrived a good two days before the shipper said it would.

I'm very familiar with the Splinter Cell universe as found on the PC, having played all more than once (never played a console version). Of these three, Chaos Theory is considered the best - and I would mostly agree. The original, however, is what made the series what it is. Pandora is still quite good and worth finishing. These ports ended up being FAR better than I expected based on reading the dismal reviews of performance before it was officially released. I kept on waiting for serious lag issues, long load times, poor graphics and optimization (and other 'issues') - anything that detracted from the SC experience. Didn't find anything truly worthy of complaint - and I was waiting to complain and put the disc away for a hopeful future patch. I was preparing myself for utter disappointment - again based solely on the multiple poor reviews before this PS3 trilogy was released - and found myself very satisfied with the controls, graphics, and overall performance. Are there issues that can be annoying? Sure. They are, truly, minor. The authentic gameplay of the Splinter Cell series can still be had with these three. I didn't think I'd be able to say that before I played them. I do not care whatsoever for multiplayer. If the single-player experience is not what you're looking for, then this PS3 version of SC is not for you. I've played more than a few so-called 'lazy ports'. This is not one of them. In the end, these three titles are absolutely worthy of playing on the PS3 (especially if you do not have the PC version).

If you're a fan of the Splinter Cell series then you'll probably want to get this. I just finished playing through the first Splinter Cell, and it looked fantastic! Consider that this game was made almost 10 years ago. To my eyes the lighting effects have received a real boost, while the graphics look noticeably better than the old PS2 version I used to play. I'm not sure what some of the reviewers are talking about when they say this isn't in HD. It certainly is on my TV! Granted, the game is old and you can only do so much with visual remastering, so those who were expecting PS3 quality visuals have the bar set a bit too high. Thus far I have not noticed any visual glitches in these games, though some reviewers reported minor choppiness or frame rate issues. The only real downside I noticed, as mentioned by others, is that the cut scenes were not remastered. For me this isn't a major concern because the amazing gameplay is still intact, and that was the main point for me buying this trilogy. Don't really care for online play, so its absence isn't missed by me. Quality wise, I'd say this trilogy is right up there with the remastered ports of God of War I and II on PS3, both of which I also own. 4.5 out of 5.

I love Splinter Cell. I've played every entry in the series and enjoyed every one of them. The quality of each game got better and better with each release. This disk contains the original Splinter Cell, Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. Three solid games. The only gripe I have with this trilogy release is that Ubisoft simply threw all three games on one disk, re-packaged it and sold it for some coin. The graphics, although they improve with each game, look like they did on the original XBOX. These supposed "HD" or "remastered" versions don't look all that great - at least not what I expected from a next gen console. Still, these games have great storylines, great voice acting, good control schemes and very fun gameplay. If you are a Splinter Cell fan or simply a stealth/shooter game fan, I recommend picking this game up. It has true value at around the $30.00-$40.00 price point. PROS - Three Splinter Cell games on one disk! - Good control scheme - Good story and voice acting CONS - Graphics are not up to par with next gen console...

I played the first two games in order with the patch and they worked seamlessly great. Lot's of fun. Chaos Theory would not get past the initial loading screen. It hung up on the part where the warning is supposed to come up to not turn off the game while it is saving or loading. This endless loading happened every time I tried to play Chaos Theory. So, I DELETED THE PATCH 38~mb file and tried again, and THE GAME WORKED PERFECT. I suggest using the patch for the first two games, just delete the patch to play Chaos Theory. It is a very small file, so reloading it to play the first two games is not much of a chore. All three games are lots of fun and challenging. The first one though is a little dated in the controls and graphics, but that is to be expected.

I finished all 3 games ever since I bought this and they have been one heck of a ride. They have excellent storyline and stealthy game play. Yes, the cutscenes are a little pixalated but the game play is something else. Wonderful shadows and light difference when in game and it's one of those that you know stealth is key and not going all guns blazing. Excellent gadgets to use to pass through levels. You'll notice a difference through the games that there's more improvements which makes the game even more fun! There are times when you'll get frustrated when a guard just hears/sees you at a fraction of a second even though you know your playing it stealthy. But that's what the quick saves are for. 10/10 perfect game. Would recommend buying it.

I Remember playing the first SC when the xbox first came out, it looked great, and this collection makes it look even better, obviously not to the current standards but , they DO look sharp. but , now that the resolution has been risen, is it just me or Pandora Tomorrow just doesnt look as good as Chaos Theory and The first Splinter cell? , the animations are stiff and the character model for Sam looks a little too Fake. Chaos Theory Looks and plays the Best, almost like a first gen Xbox360 game . Overall, if you never played them or just want to re visit in HD , pick this up, just ignore the cut scenes blurriness and stiff animations, the gameplay is wooorth it!

Very fun game and Cant wait for remake for ps5.

Splinter Cell est un jeu intéressant, mais si vous avez le 1 sur PC, vous avez à mon avis le meilleur, et la PS3 ne donne pas grand chose de plus - c'est de la fausse HD. Les tomes 2 et 3 sont des suites n'apportant que peu de nouveautés.

Delivered as expected right on time but really happy because Splinter Cell was my favorite many years ago when I used to play on my PC but now I can enjoy this Classic on my PS3 really top quality game and if you want Splinter Cell buy from this supplier as I ordered from passionFlix UK and did not get my order much appreciated to this supplier..

Just fantastic. I hadn't realized the difference between the PS2 version of Chaos Theory (mission design and AI) compared to what was delivered to Xbox and PS3 in this collection. I'm blown away. Great game. Seller advertised a "Like New" quality game and delivered. Not a scratch. I would purchase from Treasured Trove again.
