Impressive
Bought the 812. This thing is a true 12” sub that you can use for movies to listening to your best hifi music. We have it in our living room and play music through out the day and then watch TV in the evenings. If you can afford it step up the 12”. You won’t regret it.

Astounding Performance From REL
I have always loved REL subwoofers and always will. I recently moved to a larger single family home and my older S3 was too small for the family room. After watching 1 movie, I knew it was time to upgrade the S3. I received my new S812 yesterday and set it up last night. I only sampled some scenes from Rocketman last night and I'm simply blown away by the improvement! This was money well spent. If you like high end audio, you will LOVE this subwoofer!

Only brand for music
I had dual SVS subs and am overjoyed to have replaced them with 2 of these Rels. They are so much faster it is uncanny. I will never consider anything else for a music sub short of a Wilson.

Amazing Musical Sub
If you are looking for an incredible musical sub, this is your sub. Very fast response and able to blend into my main speakers seamlessly with some tuning. I have two of these hooked up in mono for each main speaker and tuned to match.Sorry to say this, but if you are looking for a Home Theater sub or if your musical tastes are more to the boomy music (Rap, Electronica) this is not your sub. It is very tight crisp and clean but does not give you that boom. This may sound odd but these subs are just too tight for that level of boom, you need a less precise larger sub to really fill that role.Lastly, make sure you purchase this through Amazon. REL support is absolutely terrible, they do not answer the phone and it takes days to hear from them by email. I have REL a wireless sub transmitter that needs to be returned and I just gave up and wrote it off a lesson. If I had purchased through Amazon I would have just returned them. That's my biggest caution with REL, as a purchaser of two of these subs I am absolutely concerned about anything going wrong. For what they charge they should be answering the phone on the first ring. Contrast that with SVS where they answer the phone and immediatly address any concerns. The other con is the High-Level connection is through a Neutrik connector. You get a 12m cable with the sub but if you need a shorter one bear in mind you are cutting a $500 cable if you buy it from REL. You can find one aftermarket for around $100-$150.My recommedation, if you are looking for a sub to fill out a main speaker with Rock, Classical, Jazz or any non-boomy music get the REL. But, make sure you get it from Amazon so you can return it, you might even consider the extra warranty to guard agains REL. If you are looking for a great home theater sub or dont need quite so tight of a response look to SVS. They are a great value for the money and sound incredible for movies and boomy music.

Accurate bass that supplements your main speakers seamlessly
I purchased my REL S/812 direct from REL. It is a marvelous subwoofer. It can put out prodigious bass. But be careful not to overdo it. It took me about a years of fiddling to finally reach a point where the bass is not exaggerated. In other words, step by step I reduced the bass output till it is currently at a low level. That means I have a huge amount of head room. Trust me: I have plenty of bass when needed. The REL instructions tell you to trust you ears so trust your ears. I'm completely satisfied.Interesting story: A few weeks ago a rap CD was sent to me by mistake. I played a bit of it until I hit a track that had unbelievably pumped up bass. My entire listening room started shaking. There were rattles all over the place. I was astonished. Do people really listen to "music" like this? The experience certainly proved beyond any shadow of doubt that the REL S/812 has the chops to play bass at truly monstrous levels. This is bass far beyond my tolerance levels. But it you want it, the REL will produce it.I returned the CD to the seller.

Can connect both a a separate HT & music system to the same subwoofer!
Beautiful more money spent on cosmetics than usual had to get a pair of these as I have a pair of mono amps for high level connection-they are definitely the most musical subs that I have ever heard practically distortion free what I like about them that I have two independent systems in the same room one for music the other for HT the S/812 connections allow me to do this with independent controls although have a bit of difficulty in placement but that could just be me
