perfect for classic vehicles or field equipment
Robust and awesome Perfect for long term vehicle storage Stops parasitic draw Easy to operate Considerable size and definitely not flimsy You will need to minor modification for battery to switch mount hole and expect to make tightness adjustment for throw switch for your application Saves terminal strip out if working on vehicles a lot connect/disconnect simple flip of switch

Works well - remember to tighten the bolts after installation
There is not much that can go wrong with this device since it is a simple mechanical switch. I was worried since the construction was a little flimsy but after installation is worked well. The switch arm is held solidly between the copper and there is no danger of becoming "unswitched" on rough or bumpy terrain. I have been using it for 6 months and have no issues except that the bolts are getting loose that hold it together (not the ones that hold it to the battery). You can't simply tighten them when the switch is installed, you need to remove the switch to tighten them.

PERFECT way to disconnect car battery with EASE!
I bought this for my Chrysler 300C -which has a parasitic power drain I have yet to trace. My car's battery would drain if the car sat for a few days (like a long weekend). I have not had the time or inclination to track down the parasitic drain as work hours have tied up my time. BUT, I could not afford to get stuck with a dead battery in time of need or ruin the expensive battery by it draining dead too may times. SO I would disconnect the negative battery cable when parking -even while at work. But handling the cable and lead battery terminal soiled my hands. THAT'S where this scissor power-switch comes into play. I enter the trunk (using a cord to pull the trunk's emergency release handle), throw the switch to reconnect the car's negative to the battery, and I'm on my way. Now, I will soon get to fixing my car's mysterious power drain, BUT I am already going to install these simple switches as a cut-off switch on a couple other vehicles which are driven very infrequently -to protect batteries from trickle-draining. I find the easiest and safest method is to use the vehicles' negative cable for the cut-off. These terminals can be unscrewed from their support block and swapped if that configuration works better with my vehicles' battery layout. This will extend the life of my batteries by preventing them from draining so quickly to the point where they need to be recharged or jumpstarted. Such deep-cycling will permanently damage lead-acid car batteries VERY quickly. Nice product, reasonable price, will purchase again when the need arises!

Ok for the price
Ok for the price, but barely put together, I drilled more holes and added some little stainless bolts to it..

I am gonna disagree with some of the reviewers saying that your battery cable won't tighten well on cone shaped terminal. Yes, terminal is cone shaped but I was able to tighten it no problem, I took it over some big bumps and it hasn't moved a hair. One thing that can be improved is a bottom part of the switch, it's made of plastic. I plan to modify this and use a metal plate on the bottom, all you need is a thick metal plate same shape as a plastic on the bottom, drill 2 holes and reconnect the switch, this way it'll probably outlast the car.

Used on an old dump truck with a small short that couldn't be found. Battery would discharge in app 1 month due to infrequent use. Switch took 5 minutes to install and battery stays charged. You have to open the hood to close and open the switch as required. But a cab operated switch would require splicing into and lengthening the battery cables, plus using a more expensive switch.

good product, works well to cut the power between 2 batteries, and isolate the trolling motor.
