Motorola XOOM For Dummies 1st Edition

I ordered this book prior to publication and was pleasantly surprised to receive it sooner than anticipated. I ordered this book because the downloadable user's manual from Motorola falls way short of hitting the target. I want to begin with the fact that I thought I had figured out just about everything there was to find in the XOOM which I am a really big fan of. I was sure wrong. This book has more tips, hints and solid information than I could ever have imagined. The author suggests the book as a reference rather than a sit down and read. However, I did sit down and read the whole thing cover to cover with my XOOM in my lap. I could only read a page or two before I had to try something new or change a setting that I didn't know about. The author clearly knows the XOOM and all of it's ins and outs as well as it's warts. After having read this book and having applied much of the content I value my XOOM even more than ever. This book clearly added much value. The pictures and layout are excellent and the 5th Wave cartoons that begin many sections just add to the enjoyment. The authors dry humor and wit added to the fun of reading and exploring.After reading, I had two questions that weren't answered in the book. I e-mailed the author and received a reply overnight that answered them both. If you want a book that will enhance your XOOM experience, this is the one.

This book is a good introduction to the basics of the Xoom and usage of the Android OS used on the Xoom. The author's writing is clear and easy to understand. That being said, I do wish that there was a little more depth in describing each subject's details and inner workings. Worth the money. I keep a copy of this book on my Xoom using the Amazon Kindle app so that I may reference it's informational how-to guides.

Bought the Hardcopy first and was to big to handle.I have gotten used to reading my kindle. I am stillreading the "hard copy" and using the "kindle" as areference on both my Kindle and my Xoom. Yes the"Kindle App" on the Xoom alows you to read the booksyou have on your kindle. The "Xoom for Dummies" hasanswered a lot of my questions. I can not understandwhy Motorola would give you such a useless instrunctionmanual rather than a manual such as the "Xoom for Dummies".If you want to get full use of your Xoom this book is agood investment

Although it is presumed that if you buy a Xoom, you are technically-savvy enough to work it well, this book is a great resource for those of us who want to know a little more. In reading the first chapter on set-up, I learned about checking for external storage and other updates, as well as how to create a new and unique unlocking mechanism. I would recommend this book for people who know enough to want to learn more and who's pride will not be hurt by the "Dummies" title.

well I got this thinking it was going to provide all the needed ins and outs and how to change where things are stored and I was disappointed especially now that I have upgraded the OS to Ice Cream Sandwich. now it really is outdated.

If you want to be very proficent with the operation of your Xoom. This is the book to have. Like all books for Dummies it requires focusing and concentration when reading. This book answers any questions you might have relating to your Zoom. The book is worth the sales price if you really will sit down and read it. Happy Zooming. ..... Grandpappy ......

I needed help learning how to use my new Xoom and searched half jokingly for a Xoom for Dummies book and there it was. It has answered many questions already and helped me feel more comfortable navigating this tablet. I love the humor and style these books are written in, just what I need, basic info for the not so techno-savy.

I bought the Kindle version so I can access it anywhere -Very good information don't like this "review" for amazon stuff as If I didn't like it I'd send it back

I needed some additional info on how to work the Motorola Zoom 1 & found the info of great help in using the tablet, but mymain gripe is that the book does not tell you how to transfer info onto the SD card. It does say how to get info on when theSD card will become usable in the UK but not how to utilise this facility.Overall this book does what the title says & is of greatassistance to those of us who are not techies.Would definately recommend it to the commputor illiterates like me.

Having never used an Android product before i found this book to be an essential guide.Well set out and highly informative with great screen shots.Fully covers all the basics to enable the Xoom user to get the maximum from what is a great tablet.Dont think you could get a better book.

The book does what it advertises and has helped me with items that were giving me trouble.Worth the money.
