Carriage House VX-Three Light Outdoor Wall Mount in Early American Style Made with Vivex Material for Coastal Environmen

I paid $168 for this light. At half this price, it would still not have been a great value. Flimsy plastic construction. Unfortunately, I waited a couple months before installing so I couldn’t return, Keep looking for a better value.

So far so good...I've not actually mounted this light yet as the glass came broken (which I see as just kind of the luck of the drawl - not the fault of Amazon or the manufacturer). The reason I am giving this a pretty good rating is that I was very skeptical of the overall look with this being plastic. We live very close to the ocean (about 900 ft). Everything corrodes very quickly. We have (17) very high quality exterior lighting fixtures on our home and all need to be replaced because they have rusted. Obviously only time will tell, but I am hopeful that these stand the test of time. On first inspection, the light appears to be reasonably good quality, it is reasonably sturdy, and the plastic is not cheap or tacky looking.

Buyers be informed - This is made from plastic. The fixture looks very nice and matches the other lights in the Carriage house series perfectly but it is made from plastic rather than cast aluminum like the other fixtures in this line. I would have liked to have known that before I bought it. I'm not sure how long term durability will be with the plastic. I'm concerned with heat distortion from sunlight and from the bulbs themselves. The globe is glass and contrary to other reviews I didn't find it to be excessively thin or any more fragile than other glass fixtures? Maybe they have improved this on current fixtures? One other item to note. The fixture mounts with a single nut in the center of the back plate, This makes the fixture prone to swiveling in windy locations if it not firmly tightened against a solid surface. I had issues with mounting them against vinyl siding and had to make a metal flat plate bracket to mount on the top screw of the electrical box which keeps the light from swiveling. I bought a full set of Maxim carriage house lights - 2 of the 26" a post light and this 20" light. They are beautiful lights with a high quality finish, all but this one are cast aluminum so I recommend these but you might want to pay the extra for the bigger lights and avoid the plastic one. It's pretty expensive for a plastic fixture with questionable durability..

I ordered this top mount light fixture to be hung at our front door and complement the garage bottom mount lights. What I received is not the same as this picture, it does not have that extra little loop coming from the top mount bar. Instead, it exactly matches the Maxim Lighting 3423WGOB Carriage House 2 light outdoor bottom mount light, only reversed in a top mount style. This picture is on the box, however it is not the same product inside.

Good quality material, should last a lone time.

Easy to install. Looks great. Changing out light bulbs will be a little more involved as you have to remove the entire glass sectionbut it should still be pretty easy. Glad I purchased this item.
