Highly recommended
A fascinating and well researched book. Recommended for aviation enthusiasts and aviation buffs. How many times have you watched a film and thought "What happened to that aircraft" or where did they find One of those.Well written and includes a precis of each film. Extensive appendances as well.

Surprise
An interesting book listing aircraft that appear in films, some of which I had not known about

Comprehensive reference book, but no photos
I was expecting a small A5 book, but this is an A4 size softback tome of a book comprising 368 pages of well-researched text listing each film chronolgically by release date, that used aircraft in it. Not knowing the release dates, I would have preferred the films listed in alphabetical order, or at least an alphabetical cross-reference. The only real downside for me is that there are no photographs whatsoever, which would have been nice to see some of the aircraft in their film settings. Consequently I can't see how the publishers could possibly justify a £30 RRP for such a book and consequently this book is available through Amazon at a fraction of that price!

Amazing amount of detail, a reference to grab when any British war film is on the telly, just don't expect any pictures.

A marvellous read for anyone interested in British War Movies and WW2 Aircraft
Mark's book is an incredibly comprehensive tome covering every British WW2 movie to feature aircraft. It contains full details of every aircraft used in each production and where they are now. It also contains a great deal of fascinating information about the making of each film which isn't available anywhere else. Mark has gleaned much information from a frame by frame analysis of each production. For example the Junkers 52 featured in 'The Eagle has Landed' is revealed to be nothing more than a small two dimensional mock up mounted on a gatepost and the V-1 which features in the Spitfire chase sequence in 'Operation Crossbow' is actually a modified unmanned target drone aircraft. Mark makes clear his dislike of the 'Americanisation' of some British war films to please American audiences particularly 'A Bridge Too Far' which he claims portrays American soldiers as heroic and British officers as incompetent.Curiously both 'Memphis Belle' and 'The War Lover' are featured in the book as they were made in the UK with British crews though two British movies 'Coastal Command' (1942) and 'The Yangste Incident'(1957) are absent. Overall it is an excellent reference book which will provide many hours of enjoyable reading for anyone interested in British war movies featuring aircraft.
