Raga Bhimpalasi

Chaurasia has been a prominent musician since the late sixties. His recording with Kumar and Kabra, "Call of the Valley" is an early classic that introduced many people in the West to Indian Classical music. This recording is just him, a table player and that magical indian drone. The sound of the bamboo flute is very warm and penetrating and Chaurasia is able to flow and spiral through the notes like Ravi Shankar on the sitar. I find the recording hypnotic and relaxing and recommend it beginners and connoisseurs of Indian Classical music. I give it five BIG stars.

A really pleasurable CD, a complete raga, played with great sensitivity and understanding. Well over an hour of fantastic music, from the ultimate Indian musician.

Di fatto Chaurasia, un grande maestro era uno dei musicisti di The Inner Light dei Beatles, a quel tempo molto presi dalle contaminazioni della musica indi. Il bansuri, ciò che da noi è chiamato flauto traverso è il suo divino strumento. Divino perchè naturale bambù e ritenuto un corpo autonomo che gestisce il suo arbitrio; così volle Krishna, forse per rimarcare il dono della creatività.I brani sono eccezionali, portano pace nell'animo e delizia del corpo. Bello risvegliarsi e praticare yoga al mattino con questa musica discreta e pregnante: è una esperienza unica.
