Cat MateWhite/Blue Pet Fountain, 100 fl. oz.

I already had an older model of the Cat Mate fountain and have appreciated how easy it was to clean, change the filter, and keep track of the water level. But when I decided to add a second fountain in order to encourage my cats to drink enough water, space was a consideration, which made this newer model an attractive alternative. I haven't tried cleaning the fountain yet; but as with the older model, its design is simple with few parts to clean, unlike some of the more expensive fountains on the market. The fountain is quiet, the water level is easy to keep track of, and most of all, both cats took to it right away.

Have a cat like mine who tips over bowls of water, plays in their water bowl, or pushes food in their water? Mine did all three, and I wasn't sure if he was playing more than drinking. Thought I'd try this when I read comments that this was not noisy and seemed dependable (I tried a different brand years ago that was noisy and stopped working after a short time). So far, so good. I've had it for about about four to six months and my 7 year old male cat uses it regularly . . . . and no more play time! He seems to drink more now. I just top it off every other day. Only warning: clean it! I plugged it in and forgot it, and one day noticed it wasn't flowing as well as it should. Poor kitty--I should have cleaned it earlier. The filter was full of hair and it was starting to get a little grungy in the "shell" portion. For my house and cat I think cleaning every 6 weeks would work well. I bought generic filters for this, and they seem to work just fine. Now he only plays with his food bowl.

The only thing I do not like about this water bowl is you cannot tell the water level without taking the top off. Everything else is fine with it. It is now 14 months later and I am not as pleased with this product. The pump stopped working after 5 months. The replacement motor was not as powerful and unless we kept the bowl full the water did not flow well. Then the second pump stopped working after another 6 months. I have had other water fountain bowls and the one thing that did not break was the pump. I would not buy this product again.

I have two different styles of Cat Mate fountains. One of them is 6 years old now and still going strong. Cat Mate bowls are easy to clean and work well with or without the disposible filter.

Cats, being the ever curious creatures that they are, are always drawn to the newest cat item that we purchase for them, at least for a short while. After that, they are drawn more to the empty Amazon shipping boxes than any actual toy. If you really care about your pets health, we strongly recommend that no one should purchase this item, when providing your little friends the cleanest bowl with the freshest water every day would easily suffice. We read that the sound of water attracts them to drink from any fountain. While that is somewhat scientifically correct, most pets of all kinds get tired of the same ole same ole. Biggest little problem with this device is having to disassemble it in order to make certain that you do not leave any scum residue in hard to reach areas that could potentially become toxic, even when fresh water is added after every cleaning. If there is someone out there that wants to keep potentially harmful scum related gunk from entering your pets delicate immune system, then we would not recommend owning one of these fountains.

The media could not be loaded. I like this fountain and more importantly, so do my cats (most of them). It has helped them increase their water intake. It is very quiet, as long as you keep it filled to the proper level. It holds a LOT of water and is easy to clean. I did find that hairs get stuck in the pump, so keep an eye on that. I found that it got slimy pretty quickly, so do yourself a favor and purchase an extra filters, especially if you have multiple cats. It only comes with one. (I think they should include two). I wish the fountain part was better, I.e. higher, so it’s more of a waterfall effect. The water comes out and goes backwards, so it’s kind of missing the point of having one. All in all, for the price, it was a very good purchase. Just wish it had a window in it so you could see the water level. .UPDATE: This fountain has stopped working.

I've only had this about a week, but the cats liked it as soon as I got it set up. Easy set up, I added water and it worked as stated immediately. It's very quiet. The only drawback is my 3 cats are drinking more and filling up the litter box!

Perfect for taste. Aluminum gives a metallic taste to the water so I’m pleased that there is no aluminum in this watering fountain
