And a World to Carry On: Laura Nyro Remembered (Barry Silber Plays)

A Beautiful Soul
I was quite touched by Barry Silber's, "And A World To Carry On." The play is a wonderful, brief moment in time. Laura was a poet, and Mr. Silber plugged into that perfectly. She, like other brilliant artists, moves too quickly through our lives, and when we realize their influence, and start to appreciate them, they are gone. Thank you for writing this, and giving me the opportunity to slow down to reflect on a beautiful soul. S.E. Feinberg

A Moving Remembrance
Barry Silber's evocative play about the brilliant Laura Nyro is a splendid literary experience. Mr. Silber expresses joyous love of Laura's music and life. Whether you are inquisitive about this relatively unknown Sixties folk singer / songwriter or you are an aficionado of this brilliant and mercurial artist, there is much of value in Mr. Silber's incisive play. The reader enjoys the entire arc of Nyro's recording life with some dramatic and humorous revelations. The play can be read at one sitting, but the reader's pleasure can be amplified by pausing to listen to Ms. Nyro's songs as they occur in the play. Mr. Silber's stage directions are distinctive and clear and the reader certainly hopes that one day this fine play will be staged for a larger audience. In the meantime, for those interested in a sensitive overview of Laura Nyro's musical career, "And A World To Carry On" will be a most satisfying read.Michael Nadler June 23, 2020

this is very touching portrait...
This play is a great reminder of the gorgeous talent and a perfect companion to the 1996 tribute album/cd "time and love..the music of laura nyro" let alone a catalyst to return to her actual recordings. Great tribute Barry, thanks david and michelle grist-weiner

An Appreciation of a Great Artist, Laura Nyro, by Barry Silber.
I was so pleased to receive this beautifully written play by Barry Silber in the mail today. It is a revelation, a remembrance and appreciation of Laura Nyro, an artist, a singer, a songwriter and a musician, who deserves to be recognized for her talent, her character and her contribution as an artist and, as Barry described her, “ a true original pioneer of pop music.” This play truly does justice to her memory and it is my hope that it is read and appreciated by all those who knew of Laura Nyro and those to wish to know her story.
