Battery installed and working correctly
I installed this battery with relatively little trouble. It is in the laptop and working correctly now. It seems to be holding a charge, although it does seem to burn through the charge quickly. Not sure how long it will last on battery power alone, but it IS functioning correctly.I replaced the OEM battery that had spontaneously died, and every time I booted up the machine, it would pop up a message saying the battery was incompatible. Apparently, it had really fried itself (common on these laptops, an Alienware 17 r3). When I installed the new battery, the machine booted up just fine and didn't produce any error messages.A satisfactory product.

didn't even last a year, short battery life
Couldn't get 2 hours of life from this battery on my Alienware 17 R3 on medium (balanced) battery life settings. When I set it to Performance mode, I was lucky if I got 20 minutes out of it. The low battery flashing indicator typically came on after about 5 minutes of use in performance mode and after about 15-20 minutes in balanced mode. My original Alienware Battery gave about 90-120 minutes of battery life in full performance mode when new. I was expecting the same, but never happened. I performed the battery conditioning when I first got it too, charging and draining it 3x before expecting it to behave normally. Disappointed. As of today, it's stone dead when I have it on charge for hours and as soon as I pull the power cord the Laptop goes dead immediately. Meanwhile it says 100% charge in the windows icon tray. Garbage after just 1 year.

Charges fast, holds a charge, and lasts just as long as the OEM battery when it was new.Would recommend to anyone who needs a battery replacement.

PC does not recognize battery
Ordered this to replace my Alienware 17R3 laptop battery. Right model and fairly cheap, which is great, because Dell no longer makes these.After replacing old, defective battery, I turn laptop on to find battery is not recognized warning. Now, I've worked in IT/software for quite a while so I know the entire troubleshooting process. Nothing worked. Updating, reinstalling drivers, flashing BIOS, order changes in installing, etc. and nothing works. As soon as I plug in the old (still bad) battery, that is recognized fine. Hours of troubleshooting every process, and no luck.Don't waste your time. If you're buying this battery, you most likely need to since Dell no longer manufactures them and you need aftermarket, but this one just isn't it. I'm guessing something is wrong/absent with the integrated battery controller that allows the PC to recognize it.
