Volta 8-Watch Case with Storage Drawer

I went into this purchase expecting a little less quality than i would expect from one of my presentation boxes from (Rolex, Omega, JLC, Panerai or IWC) due to the price point. At $150 you cant expect too much but what i was expecting was good execution with slightly better materials than the competition. The packaging was nicely simple but effective. The presentation of the product in weight, outer construction and balance were all what you would expect for over the $100 price point. The pillows were made well. However the biggest gripe and why i returned this box was because the interior slots were glues into place and were not aligned properly. Some were clearly not straight, others were spaced wider than others. Just side notes: Some complain that the drawer can be fully removed - This is actually a plus in the event something gets stuck behind or falls underneath the drawer. Overall Im not sure who i would recommend this product to. Anyone who is serious about watch storage will probably end up finding a better solution. From my own perspective i would put a value on this item at about $100. They need to work on getting the fundamentals right first in QC and interior construction before asking for more.

Overall, it's nicely made. I'm not expecting perfection at this price point, but it is very pretty and I couldn't find any flaws in the Carbon finish. However, I'm giving it four stars for two reasons:1. The hinges appear to have been installed backwards, because when you go to open the box, there is an initial resistance... almost as if there is some sort of soft-close mechanism that is supposed to operate in the other direction. Instead, it means you get some initial resistance when trying to open the box, and then the lid will gladly slam shut with no buffer. Swapping the hinges around won't be easy as the decorative flap on the inside of the hinge prevents you from accessing the innermost screw on each side.2. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if there was a smoother mechanism for opening/closing the drawer. If feels like crap because it's just placed in there, so it has play and doesn't slide smoothly since it's just wood-on-wood.Overall, for the price, I'm not really complaining.

Love the size, look, and materials. In those regards, this was everything I needed for my watch collection. This would get 5 stars but Volta cut a few too many corners - these are flaws but not dealbreakers.1) Leatherette watch pillows, not real leather, as others pointed out.2) There’s nothing holding the bottom drawer in place. Too easily, it slides out completely.3) The right-most watch slots are a tiny bit wider than the others, so the watch pillows don’t stay put. A thin strip of self-adhesive felt took care of that.

Don't let the price scare you away. I was looking at all the boxes available and they were mostly in the $50-$80 range but had comments all over the board regarding the quality.This one had near universal praise, including someone praising the box it was packaged in. Much to my surprise, that guy was totally right. I don't know what to use it for, but I'm hesitant to throw it away!As far as the watch box itself, it's rock solid. Looks fantastic and the fit and finish is top notch. I figured if you're gonna buy nice watches, why go cheap where you keep them anyways.Update 9/9/15Was running out of space for my watches, finally broke down and bought another one of these. And they managed to improve it! The hinges are a little beefier, the watch rolls are a tad larger, and now the lid edge is lined and has bumpers in the corner.Still highly recommended; in fact, I bought a different model as a gift and it was just as nice.

Do not waste your money on the cheaper boxes because you get what you pay for. You can tell the quality of a good watch box. My husband had mentioned once or twice he wanted one. I was listening because I got him it for our anniversary and he absolutely loved it. Put his watches in it right away and kept thanking me for it. To be honest, I know what I paid for it but the quality still surprised me. It’s gorgeous. It matches our dresser so we are leaving it out as decor. The brown is rich. The drawer opens nicely. No complaints about this at all! Bigger and better than expected. The packaging through shipping was even the best I have seen!

I ordered this Volta watch box because it fit the specifications I was looking for, which was a lockable eight watch wood box with a leather interior and a full bottom draw. I like the carbon pattern veneer. My dissatisfaction with this item is that the interior is not leather as advertised, it is leatherette (vinyl) and should be advertised as such. Also there is a stain/smug on the front of the box that I cannot wipe off. I think the description and product quality control need improvement. I would have rated the box five (5) stars if not for my dissatisfactions.I must take this time to give kudos to Volta's customer service for their quick response in assisting me in opening the box (I received the box with the key locked inside of it).

Could not believe the quality for the price. I always read product reviews and I kept on hearing the same thing over and over; quality and price. Also people talked about the box that it came in as something special. Personally I thought it was kind of dumb talking about the packaging but I'll tell you it's like nothing you have ever seen before quite unique. I was also Impressed by the quality and workmanship of the unit, especially for the price. You will not find better, I've looked.

Pros:1. Great heavy weight and sturdiness, built with solid wood2. Great look and sharp design, definitively elevates your collection3. Tight hold with the large cushions, great for angling your watches without tipping over4. Leatherette are good quality for this priceCons:1. There quite some gaps between the glass and linings, which usually is not a problem unless there are issues in between (see point 4-a)2. The surroundings of the drawer compartment (shown when pulling the drawer completely out), is poorly and unevenly painted (not visible if you don't pull the drawer completely out)3. The hinge makes sound when being opened (unexpected at this price point)4.The quality control of this item is not on par with offerings like Wolf, here are some issues with the item I've received:a.The sticky tape (white colored) in between the lining and the glass has 5cm length not peel off, thus showing a distracting lettered white tapes, I had to take a tweezers and peel it off myself.b.The painting on the logo has parts that fell off, I took a silver sharpie and fixed the issuec.The left front corner of the lid is slightly chipped off, I used a black sharpie to cover itRemarks:1. The carbon fiber is not 3D textured but more of a smooth wrap2. The key is in the box while the box is locked when first arrived, just get a screwdriver and you can easily unlock the box, nothing to sweat about.Summary:Despite the small letdown on the quality control, the box is well designed, well made with great features and sturdiness that should keep your watches protected for decades to come.

This is a quality item for your wrist watches. Zero complaints.This solid wooden box has a nice heft and is heavy for its size, there is little chance of the box tipping backwards with the lid open. The lid hinge is nice, no squeaks or odd travel, it moves freely and is balanced well. The watch pillows have a nice leather finish and fit watches snugly, maybe too snugly if you have shorter straps or small bracelets. The drawer is useful albeit low profile. It fits extra watch straps, bracelets, links and link remover with ease though. In the last half inch of drawer travel there are a couple of well placed magnets keeping it closed, a nice touch. The brown wood is quite dark and a has a nice textured finish. If the finish is a veneer it's not obvious to me. Very happy with my purchase on what I thought was maybe a risky buy.

This item is perefect!!The pillows fit a little tight into the slots, but keeps the watches in place. The made is very sturdy and its just such a handesome piece.It came packaged in foam wrapping, then in a cloth bag, with foam padding on all corners, then in a plastic bag sleeve, then in a very classy black volta box, THEN in a small cardboard box, and finally that box was put into a larger box with paper stuffing. I could have throw this onto the ground from 10 feet high and the watch case would have never been damaged it was packaged so well!The key fits andlocks it great, i wish the drawer locked too, but for the price, this was an amazing deal. i am extremly pleased with the purchase and what a quick delivery too!

Purchased as Christmas gift for husband. When the item was delivered it was packaged so well I didn't even want to open it (usually I open everything so I know it isn't damaged). So I left it for my hubby to unpackage at Christmas time. He loved it. Upon closer look it is a lot nicer than I thought it would be. Some people have commented that the carbon fibre print looks cheap but I don't think it does at all. My husband has some very large watches and they all fit in here without overlapping. Very sturdy and heavy, great quality and great price.
