Helpful book
Great guide for traveling the mother road, however I wish it would have had some maps of how to stay on the road better, not just some of the small towns on 66. Some towns - specifically St Louis are so hard to navigate and still try to stay on the correct path & still see the 66 landmarks.Tip: I found an app (Road Trip 66) that I used in conjunction with this guide and did pretty good, but unfortunately the app had so many more landmarks to see & an actual GPS to follow me and make sure I took the right exits. But this book helped with the bigger places to go visit.

Valuable and handy guide to the journey.
This book is a duplicate of the Route 66 chapter in a larger book called "Road Trip USA". It's "handier" for the car trip -- not so bulky and heavy in my travel bag. The book is very helpful in planning your trip -- great and very complete information. I would add a section -- "Side Trips" that should not be missed. There are a few included in the bigger book I believe, but "Pie Town", for example (about 30 miles off Route 66 in New Mexico") was omitted. However, you usually cannot do ALL the restaurants and diners mentioned anyway, so perhaps this omission just reflects their decision to draw the line somewhere!

Great book
If you are going to do a bucket list, take a road trip on Rt 66. My gal pal and I decided to do this trip and we wanted plenty of information before we left. This was one of the books we got and was very pleased with it. Loads of information. Take at least 2 weeks to follow this route..you wont regret it.

It was OK, but not the best...
It was OK but not what I wanted. Needed more mapping in order to see where to get on and off the freeway etc. Wound up purchasing "HERE IT IS", the map series from Ghost Town Press. Found it to be much better. It has individual state maps and is done in a 'fun' style. I did combine it with "Road Trip USA" and it did help a bit.

Great purchase.
I used this book for a recent trip on Rt 66 from Flagstaff AZ to Oklahoma City OK and it was very helpful...You wont see much of Rt 66 without this book...Gives you alot of little side trips that you can take just off Rt66...Great purchase...

Good little book.
This is a good smaller book, and I'm pleased with it. It'll be a handy reference source for my brother on a trip down that route this summer.

An easy read
I bought this book because I am planning to do the trip in the future. It has been an enjoyable read and while it isn't a definitive route map it has enthused me as to places I would like to visit on, an off the route. I will be buying the most up-to-date version before departure and this being the older version is why it has 4 stars, not 5.
