Q: sparrow or snakes are eating young bluebirds. how to protect?

I am ordering this. For snakes, I bought what a is called bird webbing to protect your garden from birds but it also works wrapped on pole under bluebird house on snakes. They get caught in it, if you catch them early you can remove them without killing them. Also, I am buying this product because I found its a large black crow that has been robbing my bluebird house. And now that I have babies he is trying a again

Q: Birds won't go in The Birdhouse is now

We have these on our birdhouses. The birds go in with no problem. Some seem not sure but eventually they figure it out. We have baby birds in all of our houses. They have prevented the larger aggressive birds from stealing the babies.

Q: I was given a "wren" house which has a 1 1/2" portal, which is too large. Will this protector reduce the opening to 1 1/8"?

Some wrens need the larger hole in their houses: Carolina wrens, for instance, do need 1.5 inch entrances. But BTW, I would cut off the perch on this "protector" - the birds don't need it, and it just enables squirrels and bigger birds to get in.

Q: Does it stop raccoons from reaching in and taking the chicks?

Not completely sure but would seem hard for a raccoon to get into it. Do not have a raccoon problem but definitely have a problem with larger birds like blue jays or starlings getting to the baby birds and it helps keep them out.
