Great condition and intro
The book was in great condition. No bent pages or wear in the paper cover, at all. I opened it up and began reading the introduction, so I am very excited to continue.I have had psychic abilities for as long as I can remember. All the way back to age 3. I have been honing these skills over the past 3 years, and I'm hoping this will be another stepping stone to reaching my potential. Blessed be ~

The Natural Psychic is everything I hoped for and more!
Ellen has done it again with another amazing book. I have been excited to read the Natural Psychic ever since she made her release announcement and I had a hard time putting it down after finally receiving my copy. I loved the way she described in detail the various terms and elements related to psychic abilities followed by her own stories and psychic experiences which brought new clarity to events and experiences I have had and have never able to understand. Now I am eager to try her practices and exercises to further explore and perhaps grow my own natural abilities. If you have ever been even the least bit curious I would highly recommend reading the Natural Psychic. It is straight forward, very well written and sill has all the charm and bits of humor Ellenโs fans have come to love from her books. Thank you Ellen for writing the Natural Psychic!

Engaging but disappointing
Like all of Ellen Dugan's books I've read, this one is engaging, reasonably well written, and a bit parental and know-it-all-ish in tone. So with that said, I don't know why I keep buying them. LOL They're always long on anecdotes, accessible language, and "come sit at Mom's kitchen table and let's have a talk," and short on... meat is the best word I can come up with. This particular book was a frustrating disappointment to me because it presupposes that you're already having identifiable psychic experiences, and she's just here to help you identify what variety you're experiencing (claircognizance, clairsentience, etc) and then help you hone those skills to be able to make better use of them. One hears from many intuitives/psychics that "everyone has psychic ability," and yet, I feel like an anti-psychic, so I was hoping Dugan really could help me uncover what talents I might have lying WAAAAAAAY down deep that I can't find on my own. Yet, as early as the Introduction, she wants you to keep a psychic journal where you document all the psychic experiences you have (along with date, thoughts, confirmation, etc.). Um... I'm not having any, which is why I bought the friggin' book. In chapter 2, which discusses different ways psychic abilities can manifest, she says, "Consider how you verbally describe your personal psychic experiences to another [person]." Um... again, I'm not having any identifiable psychic experiences, so there isn't any particular phraseology that I use. The whole book just works on this assumption, like it just hasn't occurred to Dugan that someone who picks up this book might want to FIND OUT how they're psychic even though they haven't had any identifiable experiences.Another example... In Chapter 7, she offers an exercise: from a normal deck of cards, pull out the two red aces and the ace of spades. You will be playing 3-card monte. Your job is to shuffle the three cards, lay them out, and find the ace of spades. She offers a few different tips depending on your psychic strengths (helloooo, I don't have any that I can determine!). She says to do the exercise ten times to start, and then to practice regularly in order to get better. She takes it as fact that you are psychic and will choose the ace of spades regularly if you'll just follow her directions. I performed more poorly than even probability would dictate: I picked out the ace of spades ZERO times out of ten, despite taking my time, trying not to overthink, trying both hands, hovering over the card, touching the card, all of her suggestions. ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ The last two or three rounds, I even tried picking the card that "felt" LEAST like the ace of spades (going on the whole, ya know, ANTI-psychic thing). Nope. No dice. And no spades.Nowhere in the entire book does she address the question: How to uncover your psychic gifts if you're a muggle who's had zero psychic experiences? I've never had a premonition, a ghostly encounter, any kind of supernatural/paranormal experience AT ALL, but had such hopes for this book. Every chapter, every exercise starts with the assumption that you're already experiencing these things, which leaves people like me with nowhere to start.Ultimately, the book left me frustrated, and convinced that Dugan's assertion that "everyone" has psychic abilities is just a platitude to sell books--or maybe she just hasn't run into anti-psychics like me. Either way, the book offered me nothing to sink my teeth into, or any way to move beyond not appearing to have any psychic talent whatsoever. About as useless as telling someone with depression to "just be happy." "Just be psychic!"

A Perfect, Consice Guide for the Student of every Field of Psychic Studies without Needless Excesses
Having tasted Ellen Dugan's writings in other works in Llewelyn's magazinge and catalog New Worlds I learned to trust what Ellen Dugan shares with the earnest seeker and student of truth. When the title and author's name of this book came to my attention I was looking for works on spiritual matters, protection, and teaching in the field of Modern Spiritualism. And I am glad and grateful that Spirit guided me to get this latest work by Ellen Dugan. It is thorough and also gives places where one can continue one's journey into more material of interest and instruction. The book is well Indexed, which is a huge treasure for the seeker of truth. The table of contents lists every area of metaphysical traditions with brief sections but each sections is amply complete. It is written that the word, perfect means complete, and Ms. Dugan's book is certainly perfect, complete without needless excesses.

Easy informative read with a touch of no one in their right mind will ever do that
She gives very clear definitions and examples with a lovely sense of humor. The only weird section is physically blocking negative energy in public. The movement descriptions did not make sense and if I did these moves at my bus stop I very well may get arrested. I'm not about to interpretive dance in public unless I'm involved in a mob flash. Let's be honest with ourselves. Its already highly unacceptable to read a new age/witchcraft book in the first place let alone throwing your arms around you like a tornado towards the crack head giving you "odd vibes". Other than that section, delightful.

... the number one book on this subject that I recommend to others
This is the number one book on this subject that I recommend to others. It is by far the most helpful one I've seen. Ellen gives clear definitions of everything, she drives it even further home with great real life examples, and there are plenty of exercises in this book to help you on your path.

Down to Earth and Practical
Great non-denomination guide to psychic abilities. Charmed had you fooled into thinking it was only for "special" people. Truth is we are all special and are all psychic to some degree. This is a great guidebook for understanding what is what and how to get in tough with and develop your own skills.
