Not bad
I use this on my work Mac laptop and the included USB-C to USB-C cable. It works well and doesn't require any drivers and I don't have any hum or noise problems with the gain switch set to L.As others have correctly said, the L and R channels are swapped on the headphone (front) output. However, the Line out on the back is correctly wired. I use this with my headphones plugged into the back port and the volume knob still works to adjust the volume. This is ok for my low power in-ear earbuds but might be an issue for larger over-the-ear cans requiring more power to drive them. The included knob is a bit small and isn't knurled making it a little difficult to make small volume adjustments. I swapped the knob for one with ridges (it's a standard "D" shaft analog potentiometer)

L/R audio swapped but software fixable.
The L/R audio issue makes this unusable for gaming unless fixed with software (EqualizerAPO).Rating 2/5 because of LR issueWith the LR corrected let me continue. Factoring in the cost I give this device 5/5 with LR channels corrected.I replaced a SMSL AD18(the AD18 had bad issues see review on that if you are looking at one) with this USB DAC + a SMSL SA-98E. I wanted audio out to my bookshelf speakers amp and audio out to my headphones. Does the job well.PC -> USB DAC =>> Headphone, SMSL SA-98E -> Bookshelf speakers. The gain switch on the back has 2 decent settings. I use the lower gain setting.Bass switch on the front I use on for headphones and off when using the bookshelf speakersThe audio plays to the headphone and line out(I used for the SA-98E) at the same time.So if you left you headphones plugged in and cranked the DAC to max while listening to your line out connected device you could damage your headphones/earbuds. I leave mine all plugged in but, I only turn the DAC up to 3-4 and control the line out device(SA-98E) with its own volume dial.

Not pleased
The first thing I’ve ever gotten from amazon on the vine program that I absolutely didn’t like. I wanted to use this as an extension to my headphones to increase the bass and sound but the cords that come with it don’t contain any cords to really do that. If you’re trying to connect it to the tv you’ll have to plug it in to the very back of the tv and I don’t know who would want to plug headphones into a tv. Just not enough cords included or enough length to use them for what I wanted, if you’re willing to go out and buy more cords you’d probably enjoy it more than I did but I was disappointed

Great replacement of build-in audio
I use it to replace the buid-in sound audio for a Intel NUC. It works like a charm. Sound quality improved significantly with this DAC on my NUC. It's paired with a set of audioengine A5.

Great amp, but...
works great, sounds great, but the audio channels are swapped. left is right and right is left. fixable in software if you have the know how, but this is a glaring problem

Would be awesome, but unfortunately the L/R channels are reversed.
I was very impressed by this unit. It's solidly built with a metal chassis and performs extremely well. You can use it as an amp from a phone with a USB-C port or from a computer with a standard USB port (or USB-C port, as many new laptops have). It comes with a generous assortment of cables to cover all the configurations you might use it in, including an optical cable and a mini-stereo to RCA cable. I am using it with my Chromebook, and the sound quality is really excellent, with plenty of power and no hiss or distortion. The bass and treble gain switches do a great job of enhancing the sound. One thing I really appreciate in this era of digital audio is the analog volume control so you can smoothly dial in the exact volume you want. My Chromebook had no trouble recognizing the amp. It worked instantly with no drivers needed.Unfortunately, someone screwed something up in the manufacturing, and the L/R channels of the headphones are reversed, which pretty much ruins the usefulness of this product. You could switch the channels by using the included RCA cable, and buying a RCA male to 3.5mm stereo female, then plugging your headphones into that with the RCA cables paired with the opposite color, but that's a workaround that you shouldn't have to do. Of course, if your headphones are symmetrical then you could just flip them around. There may be other workarounds too, such as software solutions in MacOS or Windows that let you reverse the stereo output. The Line Out port is not reversed. I haven't tested the Optical Out but I assume that's OK too and it's just a headphone port issue. This amp does not work with iPhones. I tried it out with a Lightning to USB-C cable, but it doesn't provide enough power for the unit to function so it just doesn't turn on.This would easily be a 5-star product if the stereo channels were not an issue.
