Unique Rotosound "bright, hard-hitting tone"- accept no substitutes, nothing sounds like Rotosounds.
These are the greatest strings, as used by Chris Squire of Yes : Rotosound Swing Bass stainless steel roundwound strings standard-gauge RS66LD set 45-65-80-105, "bright, hard-hitting tone". Nothing feels like roundwounds, nothing sounds like them, they cut through the rest of the band like a knife! I'm changing out some I've had on for a month, they do lose their fresh brightness after a while, if I had the money I'd change them every gig and recording session! But they hold up pretty well (good longevity). Length was perfect, red leader was right where it should be, we trimmed about 3-4 inches past the winder. Top quality strings, the best on the market for the last 40-50 years. I was surprised they are still priced competitively with other brands. When used with a Rickenbacker bass these strings will burn the house down (see video)!

Classic strings!
I really like these strings. They have a nice, bright metallic sound--great for the mainly 70s classic rock that I'll be playing with these. I think I found my new go-to strings.

FAT!!
The deep!! Lows are so hard and TONE. There is reason many big names play these. These are not very bright, even new. These sound so good fresh you can play gigs and not have to wait for them to mellow. I love the โ45s as well, they have a touch more top end but super similar. The โ66s are super deep. You can obtain flat string sounds and killer round tones. โ66s are killer, Iโll probably stick with these for quite sometime. Playing some other competitor strings, that cost more, did not work out. Rotos for the tone.

So far so great!
My replacement for stock strings. Out of the box they strung great, and stretched easily. Tension is great. They may have ruined me to other brands. Weโll see how they feel over time but so far they are slinky and donโt yield a lot of unwanted sting noise. Very responsive feedback from each fret and can be dialed in and handle a variety of tones and eq mix. I play anything and everything so I love the versatility. The good: I sound awesome. The not so good: I wonโt be able to play another set of strings.

Loud rock bass strings
I put these on an 80s Kramer Striker bass. Rotosound has the bite and grit required for loud rock and metal bass playing. The feel is rougher than nickel roundwounds but you get used to it quickly. For the first week, the treble response was incredible and every note would sing like a piano string. This tapered off after a week and now they sound like standard nickel roundwounds but with a mid-range bump. Buy a set if you've ever wanted your bass to sound super bright and cut through a mix like nobody's business.

Best strings for my Jack Casady Signature Epiphone Bass
I have tried may sets of strings on the JC Signature and gone back and forth with flats vs rounds. I must have played Chromes for over three years and liked the mid-range growl you can get by digging in, but got tired of the high tension on the strings. I settled in to GHS pressure rounds and Elixers since i wanted the brightness of a round without the zingy upper register. On a whim I tried the RS66 and am so happy that I did. They are rounds but don't have a terribly bright character. They work well with the Varitone switch allowing for different tonal effects. The tension is less that a flat and the string noice seems low for a round. They are a little rough on the fingers compared to pressure rounds but more comfortable compared to other rounds I have tried. I can't say anything about durability as they have only been on around a week. But at this price point, I'm not hesitant to buy a new set when needed.
