I bought this for my 12 year old daughter for her English class, for her monthly genre reading assignment. She LOVED it, and couldn't hardly put it down.

Expensive
My son first read this book from the public library and instantly fell in love with it and says it’s his favorite book. Decided to surprise him and buy it for Christmas. One star deducted because it’s a thin book and should not be almost $20.

Read Together
I bought this for my 8 year old son and we have shared the story at bedtime. It is a gentle story looking at the importance of being truthful not just with others but with yourself. It looks at different types of friendships and the loneliness that some children feel because they have unique ideas and don't fit in with the crowd. My son has a vivid imagination and loves creating stories with his lego characters, so he could empathise with the main character, especially when bullying came into the story.I think that this is a story that opens up conversations and perspectives with an adult guide.Lovely illustrations and we were both relieved when Jack Pepper was rescued.Well worth the read and a change from cartoon characters and stories written with poor dialogue. This is one for the bookshelf, to return to as an old favourite in years to come.

Great read for boys 7 - 10
Inspiring for character development regarding the importance of telling the truth even in difficult situations. Very imaginative, my 8 year old son has read more than once.
