The Great Cosmic Mother: Rediscovering the Religion of the Earth – Reclaiming Matriarchal History, the Goddess, Feminist Spirituality, and Women's Power

I bought several copies of this book originally and loved it. I liked the way she said we could define our own morality and intelligence and didn't need degrees from male-supremacist owned and abusive governments, institutions, schools it gave me the revolutionary idea that language, art, music - everything has been defined by people that are afraid of - or submissive to - corrupt male institutions. Christians practice child torture and abuse, the slavery and subjection of women - only their trained b*tches (their words not mine) can speak in public. Try to get a dissenter to speak. An intelligent woman who calls them on it. Not gonna happen. i don't want to be a submissive dog, but there's a lot of pressure from everywhere - the solution - we can invent our own art, spirituality, language - anything we want and we don't have to abuse animals women children like they want us to - we can defy them. The problem - I ordered this book again recently and it was rewritten with a bunch of catholic propaganda (more women slave stuff) replacing her critical analysis of current male abusive religions and about six times as thick as the original which was a thin, good book. Also watch out - good ideas in here orginally, but the snake on the cover makes me think Christian propaganda. They love to set up Goddess and God or pagan tribes that are seemlingly women-friendly or kind and gentle friendly,, but have serpents in the background, the word witch or b*tch somewhere in the mix defining us. They sucker us into believing that we're "owning" those words. One born every minute. They are doing this with the so-called Witchcraft or Wicca - which they have created to trap you. Also, Serpents in art represent venomous lies (but they suggest to us it means wisdom or something) and the fact that the art on the cover has snakes makes me think Christian trap. They like to trick you by setting up these group traps and saying that love for women, equality, safety of children, men being good - not hurting us or animals/children are in fact venomous lies. They are spin artists and are themselves snakes in the grass. They set up these things as venomous traps for women's rights people. If you are a man, woman, anyone who loves - watch out for these and other many traps that try to trick you into hurting anyone, worshipping the creators, (bio-tech people) who are cruel and hate those who resist their predator pyramid scheme. Also free press is a lie. Just try and get your stuff out there if it's against predation, male supremacy, child abuse, animal abuse or anything - and try not to have it altered and see what happens. They have people that alter it for anyone they have cornered that wants to get out. Many people probably get these copes. They have people in law enforcement, postal service, government - everywhere. They say they're "protecting their children" from outside religions. But in fact, they want to make sure their "little women" stay forever submissive, obedient and "subject in all things" and silent as their books says. They want slaves, and are willing to practice child sacrifice and torture - so their protection of children thing falls flat. Sometimes they threaten authors and force them to say what they want also. The christian mob will terrorize you if you try to escape. If you receive a rewritten account of this book, or other Goddess book - two things, they could own the author - or terrorize her into "converting" like they most likely did to Marion Zimmer Bradley - as well as myself once - or they might have rewritten copies which they send to people. They have been known to hurt people's pets, children or anyone who defies their male supremacist regime. Be careful and try to get real information to people. The only way is to deliver it personally. Even then - they're watching you can have a network that replaces books, controls and threatens, as well as owns media and government, and practices abusive techniques to shut people up. Women be silent and all that. I bet they want us to shut up. Books like this are almost always in some way controlled, altered, or used to trap the people attracted to them. Did you know there are several secret "brotherhoods" of hate that practice assault of women, terror, abuse and such. They have much power and our government is controlled by them. If you tow the line you are safe, if you try to escape - target zone for you. They have ways of making sure you end up in the loony bin, in jail, dead or destroyed socially. Freemasons, Catholics, Christian sects - watch out for them. Almost all of them practice some form of occult or Christian women abuse and child sacrificial abusive religions. Anyone who dissents is a target. They practice the art of propaganda dedicatedly and control information. Do not believe they are benign. Gay kids have been killed and tortured, women, children, animals - anyone. If you are animal rights, women's rights, the rights of the small and helpless - you are their enemy. We need protectors and we need to get strong and smart. Please, pay attention. The new thing is to pretend that they don't own everything and are David, when in fact they are Goliath. They pretend that slave-owners are victims and that the men in power are poor, abused misunderstood people. They are not. They have money, they own government and almost all information including the internet. Also they use spy tech, bio-tech, psyche stuff, image warfare, planting of evidence, and other techniques to keep you quiet. If you are bio-tech creation they can also use yourself against yourself. They remove impulse control and then like all animatronic animals, manipulate you into doing things that can harm you or set you up for more abuse, mentally, physically or sexually. Study this tech because it's the secret they keep from us - among others. That tech you see in Star Wars - the 3-D imaging in the air, is what they used to use to create "apparitions" to make Catholics think they saw the Virgin Mary - so guess what - slavery of women is true! God told them. They're not gods. Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Just like in the book (if you get the real version) they use advance tech (for many of us) to convince people that they are gods and that - guess what - the gods want you to be their slave!! What a revelation. They recruit men into rape and abuse religions by trying to make it funny or selling it - or threatening those men who defy them. Is it really true that men are this.... easy to destroy their heart and soul??! I can hardly believe it myself. Some are uneducated, some - they just prey on their greed, or passiveness in the face of evil - like all of us really. Please wake up. I'll be surprised if this gets out there unless someone helps. I can't post on the internet usually. They may alter it. Women need to wake up. The right to bear arms was so that government didn't have the power to do this to us. I'm not sure that bearing arms will help in a word of bio-warfare and weapons of mass destruction, war destroys us anyway, but the intelligence to fight the problems and cure the problems will. Education people. And we can only do that with free press. Please. Help solve the predation of men so we can speak freely in public without harm. One solution - do not go with Christians, Freemasons, or groups of men that keep information from you, spy on you, use weapons to intimidate, or keep you from positions of power and authority, do not include you in the truth or in decisions that effect you, or abuse animals or children. Refuse as much as possible to give them sexual pleasure, or be servants to them. As much as possible do not buy their (really incredibly beautiful) art that sells abuse. It takes strength. Keep your heart muscle strong. So - great book when I first got it. Introduced me to a revolution, Christian controlled traps or not, there were good ideas in here. Just sort out the bad ones. You can create, you don't need to endure this world of hurt and abuse. You can try to be free, kind, gentle, powerful, loving, end their abuses, attempt to cure predation, illness slavery and death, get stronger, get involved in creating this world.

I am already liking the material, I just read about the biological origins of life. And I also believe that men should also learn about this.

...is to return to the beginning. This book is the most important and powerful book I have ever read. It is important to read the book through and understand what is being said before bashing the author as a man-hater, as some have done. There is *such* a difference between bashing men and naming the injustices of the roots of patriarchal religion. For instance, it is men who are dying in the name of a patriarchal God (anti-terrorist and anti-infidel) as I write this. It is boys as well as girls who are starved, beaten and abused within a patriarchal system as children, entirely dependent on women who have all the responsibility for their unpaid labor, and none of the power to make things right. I loved the way the authors articulated the importance of the unpaid work women do, and how much our entire global economy depends on it. This work is not only historical, it is current, prescient, and brilliant. It is crucial to our time, and should be mandated reading for everyone. If only we could make that happen! "Because the enemy does not exist in space, but in time; four thousand years ago. We are about to destroy each other and the world, because of profound mistakes made in Bronze Age patriarchal ontology -- mistakes about the nature of being, about the nature of human being in the world." Touching on *quantum physics*, the authors create a spiral of hope that defies the statement that we are calling for a *return* to a time that no longer exists, but to a time that cannot be destroyed because it is organic and essential to the survival of this planet and the people She embraces. I loved the author's use of words, too, she does not limit her vocabulary or "talk down" to her readers, but she does not talk over their heads either. She knows what she is talking about and it would behoove us all to listen. After all, "People who put in two-thirds of the world's working hours and receive in return one-tenth of the world's income should have something to say about the idea that hard work equals wealth. ... The bitter truth is, under four thousand years of patriarchal 'exploit-for-profit' economics, the women of the world have worked long and hard, often under the worst necrophilic conditions, to keep the human race minimally alive. In return, we receive mostly dismal statistics signifying not reward, but rip-off." The only drawback of this book is that once you read it, once you *get* it, you will never be the same again. And if more people *don't* read it, those who *do* get it are going to be very lonely and hard to live with people. Evolution is a lonely path. Let's walk the journey together, shall we?

Every woman who is awake and looking for answers and the history of the matriarch should read. Very enlightening, can be triggering at times, and make you think, feel and see dynamics regarding the beautifulness of womanhood and the damaging effects of patriarchy. So many jewels and historical lessons learned in this book. Almost feel I need a class or to discuss this book with like minded women because of the depth and density of knowledge in this book!

I cannot overstate the perception-transforming effect of this book. It makes all the pieces of the spiritual puzzle fall into place and has confirmed what myself and many a wise person already knows intuitively: that much of what we are taught is WRONG. It resonates both on an intellectual and intuitive level. You will learn many things such as the true reason for the religious imagery of Christianity which always seemed random and vague to me; and other such facts as the true origin of the throne being the lap of the mother, hence the reason why ancient Egyptian imagery always depicts kings sitting in the lap of Isis; the association of the left side of the body (the right brain) with the divine feminine (location of the heart) and hence the deliberate patriarchal stigma of "left-handedness" e.g ancient word for left derived from the word "sinister" whilst the word for "right" always has positive connotations e.g "dexterous" (deriving from destra). The author really breaks it down to the bare essentials, even going as far as explaining the origins of words you never thought had any connection to each other such as the words menses, month, and mathematics which all were derivatives of the word "moon" and "mother" under the ancient system of goddess worship, the moon and nature and many other things being a key focal point of goddess religions because of the connection to women's cycles. There is much information packed in here (the book is quite thick being about 430 pages long). You can take much away from it factually and theoretically. The only thing I would say is that at times it felt a bit repetitive but that was due mainly to its comprehensive nature. A word of caution- this will appeal more to spiritual seekers who are quite advanced in their journey and knowledge of self. Otherwise much of the references, symbolism and commentary will go over your head. It's not solely an "intellectual" read. It's very deep and symbolic and is a book that you have to read when you're ready for it. 2023 update: a lot of books by influential authors and high profile people, especially ones who have died are being altered and interfered with. Having experienced this phenomenon on multiple occasions in recent years and waking up to the true nature of the status quo- I can believe that this book could be one of them. Another reviewer has warned that the original version they previously read years ago is different from what is now being sold. And states that the original was a thin book. And in my original review I did feel that a lot of what was being presented was strangely rambling and repetitive. Seeing as how Monica Sjoo and others like her were targeted in their life by the system they challenged, I would not be surprised that her work and legacy like many others is being interfered with after their death (she died 2005- and it cannot be said whether that was by accident etiher.)

For example, •She over-romanticizes menstruation. •She waxes poetic over some unsavory aspects of humanity’s ancient past such as human sacrifice, child sacrifice, cannibalism and drug-induced frenzied possession in spiritual rites or initiations (which sounds beautiful when written in text but can be terrifying when witnessed up close in person.) •The author makes A LOT of unsubstantiated conjecture. This is not an exhaustive list, trust me there’s more. However, if you can weave past all of that and are willing to do additional side research you can get a rich understanding of how patriarchy and western culture and religion is ruining us all. She was laid out a timeline of human history from Venus figurines all over the ancient world to the domination of patriarchy and Protestant Christianity. The transformation she exposed here explains why women are the most hated on the planet, objectively, why western culture is so exploitive and why Christian religion is so replete of femininity, intuition and fails to connect to the body (the way Eastern healing modalities or “witchy” healing practices do). Beyond my criticisms of the book I have come to highly regard this work. It makes me want to embody our ancient goddess knowing more than ever before.

When the book arrived, my first impression was that it was fairly thick, with a generous length of approximately 500 pages. However, once I started reading, I found it hard to put down. It is exceptionally well written, thoughtfully structured, and covers every aspect of the subject in depth. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone—it is definitely a must-read!
