My son first latched on to this Mother Goose collection at about 21 months, and for the last 3 months, we've read the whole thing through nearly every day. He'll spend 30 or 45 mintues with me, reading the rhymes, enjoying the songs (there are several for which the tunes are fairly well known), and looking forward to the ones such as "patty cake" which have a game attached to them. While he's got a pretty decent attention span for his age, this is by far the activity he'll do for the longest time. He's starting to learn the rhymes himself now, and it's become a very participatory activity to read it with him. I'm enjoying it tremendously, with the warm and fuzzy, family-celebrating illustrations, the inclusion of many of my childhood favorites, and some old rhymes which are new to me, and very charming (Wibbleton to Wobbleton, for example, and The Big Ship Sails on the Alley, Alley Oh). I've hidden the other Mother Goose collections we were given as gifts, because I find this by far the most appealing, in its choices of rhymes and songs, the charm of its illustrations, and its uncrowded layouts which don't squeeze too much text onto the pages.

I bought this for my granddaughter when she was nine months old after reading the good reviews on Amazon. This is the best book I have bought her so far. She loves the illustrations, as do I. The colors are vivid, the illustrations sweet, and the nursery rhymes are the old popular rhymes. I like that the rhymes are the happy nursery rhymes, nothing morbid. My granddaughter is 10 months old now, and she loves it when I pull out the book to read with her. The last time, she tried to kiss some of the cute critters in the illustrations! The quality of the materials used to make this book is also impressive: The pages have a slight sheen and are of durable thickness (not heavy like cardboard, but not so thin they will tear easily when turned or crinkle when young hands touch the pictures), and the binding is solid. I highly recommend you add this book to a child's library.

Of all the books I received as baby gifts, this book has had the longest lifespan. It was my daughter's favorite book as soon as she was old enough to turn regular pages, and almost a year later, it still is. Unlike shorter board books which become very repetitive, this book still has poems that seem "fresh" to me. Everytime we read it's a different experience, depending how many pages we turn at a time. It can be a short book or a long book, depending on the day. The illustrations are incredibly detailed. Even after what seems like a thousand reads, I'm finding clever twists and recognizing characters from elsewhere in the book. This book is a classic and offers lots of bang for your buck.

Was looking to replace the original book my grandson brought home as a reading promotion from the hospital after his birth. It was so well used the cover had come off and the younger grandson (7 years younger) enjoyed the book so I wanted one that would stand the test of time for the two of them. I hope it will be something they can use with their own kids at some time. Was so happy to find it and find it was the right book! So many with like titles and without the cover and beginning pages -- it was difficult to determine.

I bought this book as a shower gift to go with the animated Mother Goose. It received a great response.

I had this book for 6 months now. My kid then 9 months old did not enjoy it as much. However he was still interested in listening to the book. However as he grew around 11 months he started loving this book and at 12 he would bring this book to me to read it to him and as he is growing further he is loving more and more poems and remembering them now.Moral of the story is kids love this book and grow with this book. It should be a staple in any kids library.Only cons are that pages are plain paper, so if you are not careful kids will tear them. Also, it does not include some of the popular poems like itsy bitsy etc...But still the collection of rhymes is great and my kid enjoys the poems there are..

I bought this book used, and it came in good condition and on time! I love overseas and was desperate for classic books in English to read to my baby! I want to order this for other parents of young children as well! BEAUTIFUL!

I wish I would have bought another kind. some of the words kind of creep me out. Big book with lots of illustrations which my daughter does like. A lot of the rhymes on here brought back memories tho so it sort of made up for it. There are plenty of different rhymes and stories so you or your loved one should not get bored easily. There are a lot of different versions of mother goose which I did not know about until after I purchased this book. I still read it to my daughter but don't let her see the book before bedtime. I don't know maybe it is just me that it creeps out.

This is my favourite nursery rhyme book and it has been for many years.I have used it as a grandmother and a librarian for babytime programmes, and never has it diappointed.

This is one of my 14 month year old son's favorite books. He never tires of the collection of nursery rhymes with their vivid illustrations and I love reading them to him! He enjoys it so much I decided to order the second volume, Here Comes Mother Goose.I bought this book used from the perfect used bookstore and was very pleased with the condition of the book- it was rated good and only had slight damage to the jacket and an inscription on the inside- otherwise it was in excellent condition.
