Assembly was very easy (a nine-volt battery was even included). Great size for a 9 year old. Assembled product is very light, and my son has no problems carrying it around. Instruction manual is easy to read and clearly tells you how to operate the detector and what to expect. Pinpoint mode is very straightforward with sounds clearly indicating the presence of metals. Discovery mode allows identification of the type of metal by simple colored lights. Easy for kids to understand. Within 10 minutes out in the front yard my son got a hit, but we haven’t dug up the yard yet! He can’t wait to get out to the local lake beach and see what he can find in the sand. Great product and great value for the money.

A Santa Gift for my son. He has wanted one for quite some time, this is his first to explore in the back yard, trails at church, beach trips year round.Very lightweight, easy to set up. Instructions could use a bit more detail. LED lights are bit difficult to see in bright sunlight.Being able to collapse to a small travel unit is a plus.A bit more research and I may actually purchased one with a 3.5 mm headphone jack to aid in hearing audible tones.Will keep you posted on how performance and ease of use for an 11 year old.

I've never used a metal detector before this, but was trying to think of something creative for my 8 year old's birthday gift. He has so many toys that don't get played with, and they all basically do the same thing anyways. I wanted to get him something to get him outdoors exploring more. Since I think I was even more eager than he was to see if it worked, I skipped reading the directions altogether and just started walking around with it. It was very simple to understand that beeping and colored lights meant there was some sort of metal found. I actually didn't ever get around to reading the instructions, but my guess is that each color represents a different type of metal. He doesn't really care to get into that much detail, he (and I) just like walking around searching for "pirate" treasure...so far, nothing of value, but fun just the same. There are a few times when it has indicated a find, but we did not find anything. I'm thinking maybe it was buried deeper than we cared to dig. (The first thing he found was rebar under the cement slab, which to his dismay, I told him we could not dig to!) I should add that my son is special needs, and he had no issues with grasping the basic concept of how to work this. I like that it was not frustrating to use straight out of the box. I'm sure it will be more fun when I actually learn to work the more detailed functions. Seems rugged, considering he left it out in the pouring rain all night without me realizing it. It turned on and worked fine, although I wouldn't advise this! Not a flimsy toy.

Update: dec2021 honestly not worth the money I literally planted items in my yard and places and would not get a signal at all. Yet would get a signal when actually nothing was there. Dug huge holes even sifted the dirt.Ok so I confess I’m a adult and I bought this for me. I wanted something lightweight and easy to use since I tire easily . The weight on this is perfect for kids or anyone with arm or wrist problems . I will probably add me a little strap also to carry . Assembly is as easy as 1:2:3. The instructions are simple to read and understand as well. It’s not over complicated. It comes ready to go with a battery included. (9v)for the kids it has some cute pirate stickers as for the size, I am 5’ 4 and find it easy to work with for my height . Will be testing it in various places since where I live the ground seems to be loaded with iron. That’s the only signal I got . Also a white powder seems to rub off of the handle onto your hands. 5’ 4 is the max height you would want to go and it does get a little uncomfortable after a short period of time on the hand. I will try wrapping it with a soft or gripping vet tape.

I got this metal detector for my 6 year old son. He was able to figure it out immediately and began exploring right away. Since it is light weight, he was able to hold it easily. The rod is the right length for him in its lowest setting and can be adjusted when he grows. If you are sensitive to beeping, use it outdoors. The instructions were correct, there are too many interferences indoors. He used it in the house and it found every nail in the floor boards😁. I think it is a great product for a little explorer (and also big ones). The metal detector is very sturdy, and I can only recommend it.

We bought this metal detector for my son's 7th birthday. He has been wanting one since he watched a Dude Perfect episode where they were using one. This metal detector is light weight and the perfect size for a child or adult as it is adjustable. It is easy to use and we found it to be accurate. We took it to the beach and have been hunting for treasure in the yard. Keeps the kids busy outside.

We purchased the product for my 10 year old son. We wanted something easy to use, lightweight, simple to understand, yet accurate and inexpensive and that is just what we received! Assembly was very easy; just a one step click to connect the two shafts. There was a battery provided which seems minor to mention, but as parents it’s huge because there is nothing worse than putting something together for your child and then not having the proper batteries to enjoy it. We followed the provided directions to understand how to read the symbols/colors for detecting certain metals. The detector beeps and shows 3 different colors for different types of metals. The colors were distinct and easy for my son to differentiate. This metal detector was a good purchase and I recommend it!

Absolutely love this detector. Birthday present for my 7 year old and its a hit! I want one now.
