Enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. In the beginning I wasn't so sure because Miss Daisy was so hateful and entitled. I wondered why so many old wealthy people become this way as I've known a few myself. What happened in their privileged lives make them so bitter over time, or, were they always this way. They seem to hate the world around then and worse those who show them nothing but kindness their reaction is still to be bossy and cold. The way she treated Hoke, her DIL and sometimes Idella who'd been serving her since the age of 8 for goodness sakes. How disgusting and shameful is that??? Miss Daisy keeps saying to her son, "I'm not a racist" when clearly she was. Her son on the other hand clearly was not. He was kind to all he met even with his enormous wealth. It was Morgan Freeman who truly made this movie endearing. He played Hoke well, making me happy when something good happened for him like his raise, his "new" secondhand cars and him having his own family. His patience with Miss Daisy and how even with her bed behavior he still showed her the greatest respect and was always truthful with her. I really didn't like the ending, made me sad for Miss Daisy because by this time we know how much she valued and loved Hoke as her best friend. He never let her down and was always there for her. She liked her privacy and independency. But aging really su*ks. Although when one has money to live a bit better I would imagine it helps even if in the least choice environment. It also helps to have your bestie there by your side to help you eat pecan pie. Good clean movie.

Heartwarming!
Excellent cast. Miss Daisy played by Jessica Tandy has a car accident, her son, Dan Aykroyd hires Morgan Freeman as driver. Tandy resents Freeman and doesn't accept his offer to drive. She reluctantly accepts him and over the next few weeks he drives her. Driving to a birthday party they meet up with bigoted state troupers. They are Jewish and Aykroyd's wife goes over the top With Christmas decorations. Very touching when Tandy becomes confused and thinks she is still teaching. Beautiful scenes at nursing home when Freeman and Aykroyd visit. Some extras. 4 Academy Awards. One of my favorite all time movies and highly recommended.

Excellent well-made movie
This amazing film deservedly won the Oscar for Best Picture of 1989. Jessica Tandy also deservedly won Best Actress &, had it not been for Daniel Day-Lewis winning Best Actor for My Left Foot, I dare say Morgan Freeman would've got an Oscar for this performance. The film's masterstroke is how it handles it's subjects. It's heartwarming but not schmaltzy, it covers certain periods of American culture without glossing over &, most of all, it makes it's point about racial prejudice without ramming it down your throat.I should point out that I got the German blu-ray release of this movie. As always the picture & sound quality is excellent. However, if you want the English soundtrack, you'll either have to press the menu, option or audio button on you blu-ray player remote as the disc will automatically play the German audio track. That aside, it's a great release
