Fun Stuff!!
These arrangements are for intermediate players, but newbies to fingerstyle should gain a lot here too. The tunes are not difficult, but do require careful practice. I bought this because I wanted to learn "Every Breath You Take" which is an excellent arrangement, but I got sidetracked by the simple beauty of "Angie" and the cool bluesiness of "Oh! Darling". You should know that the CD does not contain complete performances, but rather it's a master class as Juber talks and plays through the sections of the tunes. You'll get fingering suggestions and other performance tips. It's a package meant for performers not listeners. Personally, I find it easy to put the pieces together. This book is a mix of DADGAD tunings and standard tunings. "Every Breath" is DADGAD. "Angie" and "Oh! Darling" are standard. Nothing to worry about with altered tunings though. If you haven't explored them, DADGAD is not hard. So get with it!

Close, but no cigar!
I bought this for two reasons. Let it Be, and In my Life. The transcriptions are not exactly as you hear on his recording of LJ Plays the Beatles, but are still worth the price of admission. Just be warned the main melody of Let it Be and the solo are enough to get you going on your own but if you want to more closely emulate his recorded interpretation you're in for some work. Especially if you're new to DAGDAD.In my Life is much easier for a "normal" guitarist to get a hold of and embellish upon due to being in standard tuning. And imo the transcription is close enough to the record to keep anyone of this skill level happy. I only mention this because I was disappointed initially by the differences in these two beautiful songs. So even though this sounds negative, it's more of a heads-up than it is a complaint.Would have been five stars if the recorded version of Let it Be was transcribed. The arrangement of Angie is fantastic and the only of the remaining tunes that I would be interested in learning.

I love this book although I had to buy the full CD of the tunes separate. The CD that is with the book is helpful although just small snatches of the tunes that are transcribed. The full CD gives that extra in terms of the depth of feeling to these well known tunes and this book of their transcription by Laurence Juber, most excellent.

A bit too advanced for me. In fairness if I were further along I would have given it at least 4 stars.

nice arrangements
Some nice arrangements. Have not tried them for awhile - too m any other things to try. But Juber has some nice beatle covers in here.

Great arrangements, but not complete.
This is a great way to learn Laurence Juber's arrangements as the CD walks you through the sections. When buying this just realize that some of the arrangements are incomplete. For instance, on Oh Darling the entire solo section is cut out and the song is not exactly like he plays on the album.

Book Review
Laurence is a great guitarist. All of the books that he has published are beyond the reach of most guitarist. I think that he has forfotten where he was at an intermediate level. You can not write material above your audience. I have been playing over 40 years and I need to work on almost each measure severial times to be able to do the tune justice. I can play all styles of music, but for the most part, I will play them between intermediate and professional levels.

Here's the breakdown
I'm not crazy about seeing things in DADGAD, because if you want to just pick up a guitar and play it, it is too much work to tune it to DADGAD and the owner of the guitar might not like it if you mess with his tuning. It's not much trouble to tune to Drop D, though, or to switch back to standard tuning. That said, here's the breakdown of songs by tuning:DADGAD - Every Breath U Take (Police), Let It Be (Beatles), Stand By Me (Standard By ?), Maybe I'm Amazed and My Love (Sir Paul)and Your Song (Sir Elton)Drop D - Allison (Costello) My Girl (Temptations)Standard - Angie (Stones), God Only Knows (Beach Boys), In My Life and Oh! Darling (Beatles)Even if u don't bother with the DADGAD stuff, the other tunes are so well done that the book is still worth the bucks, but the only reason I subtracted a star was that most of the book is DADGAD.

These arrangements are fantastic and the CD that accompanies this music has Laurence explaining how to play the arrangements. It’s like having him in the room with you. Best music tuition book I have invested in. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Six stars out of five.

Reine Freude für Fingerpicker und Paul McCartney-Fans
Laurence Juber, ex Paul McCartney - The Wings Gitarrist, bringt bei Hal-Leonard ein schönes Noten- und Tabulatur-Buch für Fingerpicker:1. Alison (von Elvis Costello) in D-A-D-G-B-E, Drop-D Tuning2. Angie (von Mick Jagger und Keith Richards) in Standard Tuning3. God only Knows (von Brian Wilson and Tony Asher) in Standard Tuning4. Every Breath you Take (von Sting) in D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning5. In My Life (von John Lennon und Paul McCartney) in Standard Tuning6. Let It Be (von John Lennon and Paul McCartney) in D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning7. Maybe I'm Amazed (von Paul McCartney) in D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning8. Oh Darling (von John Lennon und Paul McCartney) in Standard Tuning9. My Girl (von Smokey Robinson and Ronald White) in D-A-D-G-B-E, Drop-D Tuning10. My Love (von Paul and Linda McCartney) in D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning11. Stand by Me (von Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller and Ben E.King) in D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning12.
