We went through several openers before this one. We love it! works fallessly. It loves to open cans. looks great. buy one and you will loveit. Sounds crazy to be excited about a can opener but after several openers over many years of hearing complaints and frustrations of that darn opener we are happy.

Can opener didn’t work right and then quit working altogether. I tried to get a refund. I tried to message the company. I tried to message Amazon and I was ignored.

I bought this product from Walmart. A big reason was because of the five-year warranty that it states CLEARLY on the box, which is way longer than anybody else’s warranty. The first time I used the can opener, it did not cut all the way through the can lid. It stopped with about 1/4 inch of lid still uncut. I figured it was off to a bad start, but maybe there was something a little off about that particular can, and I have opened several more cans which have worked fine. So for now, I am reserving my opinion about the operation of this can opener until I have used it more, and I am not throwing away my old one that still works, until I am sure. However, I do have a serious issue with Hamilton Beach about their warranty. I looked at the use and care manual that came with this unit and it stated that it was a one-year warranty. I called and spoke with someone at Hamilton Beach who told me it is actually a one year warranty. When I asked why the box clearly states a five year warranty (photo attached), I was told that it is a five year warranty in Canada but a one-year warranty in the United States! I told her there was no statement on either the box or in the manual that explains that difference. She didn’t know. So just be aware that if you’re looking for a five year warranty on this unit, you’re not going to get it. I cannot believe that Hamilton Beach puts this clearly on their boxes and then only gives you a one-year warranty. Totally misleading and ridiculous. If you have to use their warranty, what other nonsense might they give you to avoid honoring it?? I always thought Hamilton Beach was an upstanding company but I have now changed my opinion about that. I think I will call back again and see if I get a different person and get a different answer. I’m just curious about that.UPDATE: A few days later I called HB again and spoke to a different person. They also said it is a one-year warranty and could not answer why the box states a five-year warranty. That’s just unacceptable. For two cents, I’d return the product just for that reason alone. I don’t like that kind of company shadiness.
