Adam and His Kin: The Lost History of Their Lives and Times [Beechick, Ruth] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Adam and His Kin: The Lost History of Their Lives and Times Review: Profound insight, easily read by most ages, establishes credibility of a possibly misunderstood work - Doctor Beechick constructs a very credible argument for the accuracy and the inspiration of the Genesis account. For the person who is not a Biblical Scholar, reading a translated work from a few thousand years earlier can easily challenge the reader's belief system because of not understanding writing method and style. Normally, I would recommend going "to the source first," but in this case I would encourage the reader to first read Adam and His Kin, then go on to tackle the Genesis account. For those not usually enthusiastic about history, this may be the first enjoyable book to read. Review: Engaging, Biblical view of Creation - This book actually held my kids' attention while giving them factual information. She lays out the Biblical timeline in such a way that the information is synthesized, easy to understand, and interesting on many different levels. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good, in-depth supplement for Creationist history at the elementary level.

Must read! Excellent addition to ancient history curriculum
The author is very clear that not every theory about creation or the beginning of human history is used. And that's not the point. It is meant to be a novel of what might have happened. One does not have to buy every theory, but it is still extremely interesting because it "fills in the blanks" of what you might have wondered about the Genesis accounts. It makes sense and I think it makes an excellent companion to Bible study and ancient history study.

Creative look at Genesis
This book is a great resource to any homeschool library and is a great way to teach history, starting from the very beginning, using "living books". The author quite clearly spent a lot of time thoroughly researching the time period covered in this novel and presents her information clearly and creatively. If you are studying ancient history, beginning with creation, this book could be followed by Journey To The Ice , a historical fiction that covers the time period of the Tower of Babel.

fit seamlessly with our history lessons
The book itself was pretty good. It fit seamlessly with our history lessons thru Veritas Press. Some parts were mundane and unnecessary to the story, so I skipped over those, but it offered great imagery. The book was advertised as Used - Very Good but it wasn't as "good" as I expected it to be. There was a large stain on the back cover, and there were pencil scribbles inside.

Good
Good work but a little more speculative than I expected. I thought it would follow the Bible versus more.

Adam and His Kin helps children learn what life might have been like in early Bible times
I loved Ruth Beechick's story of the people in the line of Noah from Adam to Noah that lived. There were a few things that I think were important that I believe happened back then based on the book of Enoch and the Bible's reference to it, but I don't think the population as a whole is ready for that anyway. Still the overall sense of what might have happened and the feelings people had toward each other and toward God and toward the world sounds pretty accurate to Scripture and understandable to read through. I have also read Henry Morris' book, The Genesis Record and learned a great deal from it.

Makes Genesis come alive.
Fascinating! Adam and Noah seem so far removed from us that we often don't think of them as real people. Beechick creates a bit of a storyline around them that goes along with the Bible and with what we know from history. It gave me a new understanding of this part of Genesis. Thanks.

A well written book. I have read it a number of times and also read it as a read aloud with young teens. We really enjoyed the narrative. It is based on the Bible but she does fill in quite reasonably to keep it flowing in a narrative way. It covers from Creation to Abraham.

I found this book to be very interesting. I believe Genesis is a literal account of Creation and this book has got some very good ideas about Adam and Eve and other characters from the book of Genesis. It is meant for the younger reader but I enjoyed it very much.
