Wonderful product. At great price.
Have used this stainless steel tile in 2 locations and could not be more pleased. It is available locally for 2 1/2 to 3 times the price so it is really a bargain here. It is not too difficult to install if you do not need to do much cutting of the 1 sq. ft. units. The individual random sized tile pieces are glued on a plastic matrix backing. You use thin set just as you would with any mosaic glass tile. The tiles are actually ceramic pieces that have stainless steel folded over the front and sides. The rear of the tile is ceramic and adheres readily to the thin set. If you need to cut the tiles, it can be done but you need an electric diamond blade wet cut tile saw. Most likely not one of the hand held ones. A diamond blade made for glass tile cuts more smoothly than a regular diamond blade but it does cost more. If you need to cut individual tile pieces you are going to have trouble holding them. Your fingers will be very close to the blade but it is difficult to hold them any other way. It can be done but it sure isn't easy or fun! Cutting across a full sheet is also difficult to do as the individual pieces will move on the backing and make smooth cuts a real problem. I have tried several methods to hold and cut the tile and have done so acceptably but have decided that cutting individual pieces of tiles of smaller or larger sizes and rearranging them to make a straighter end line really works best for me. This is not a just a slap on the wall project but if you are willing to put some effort and thought into it, the results are highly rewarding. If you get a quote for professional installation I think the price will give you a good indication of the work involved. I have also seen several professional installations including those at tile suppliers and have not seen a one that I would consider better than just fair. I don't want to scare you away from doing this yourself if your are reasonably handy.... this was the first time I have done any tile work. I am very pleased the results but I did put in a lot of time doing it. I saved several thousand dollars and learned a lot also. Grouting this tile requires considerably more material than most tile. The gaps between the tiles are much greater that the small gap between straight sided tile. It can easily take 3 or 4 times as much as the grout coverage charts indicate. Metallic glass beaded grout is very well suited to this stainless steel tile. (Bostik Reflection is an example) It looks terrific but is also pretty expensive. Any non-sanded grout can be used. Sanded grouts will scratch the tiles. This tile is very high quality. The stainless is satin finished and flawless. The tiles are quite thick and heavy. It is nothing like the peel and stick stainless tiles that are as thin as cardboard and will fall off the wall if you sneeze.

Love it
One or two little tiles came with broken ceramic behind the metal but I just filled it with mortar. I used thin set. It was a pain, the whole DIY project but the good thing is you don't need any special ceramic or ss cutting tools. You just have to have patience, be good at puzzles and clean as you go, work quickly and be ready to climb on the counters and lie down on them if you want every nook to be perfect. I used this as a backsplash. When I was done with the application I was relieved that the next step was the grouting, it seemed the easier part of the project, wrong. Gotta work even more quickly before the grout dries. Then comes clearing that gloppy mess and if you're a perfectionist like me as well as an amateur you will have areas where the grout residue needs to be chiseled off the tiles. Metal will scratch it, wood was not that great, my own nails were sometimes used as tools. I don't recommend that, but you get desperate. I'm glad it's over and happy with the results. My backsplash is beautiful.

Looks great
We used these for our kitchen backsplash and all our guests marvel at it. We're a little wary of trying to drill holes through it to hang anything but it sure does look gorgeous.
