A wonderful beginning guide to the Highlands and the Hebrides Isles
A wonderful beginning guide to the Highlands and the Hebrides Isles. I love all the Lonely Planet guides as they tell you about the non touristy places also!

I also bought the kindle version for a few dollars more. It was very handy to have the links there.

The Highlands' hub is Ft. William. Most travellers will pass through that small city. We found the lodging and eating reviews for Ft William to be sketchy and in one case, flat wrong. The "Grog and Gruel" is recommended for good food and cold ales. We found bad food and warm beer. The food was not just negligently prepared; it was doomed by indifference. The stake and ale pie, for example was common, salty canned beef stew with a frozen prefab crust. So, this crucial section of thr guide needs to be updated just two years after publication.
