Well Written Informational Guide for Mexico Campers-- but it's not the same as reading the People's Guide to Mexico.
This volume of the Travelers Guide to Camping in Mexico did a more than satisfactory job describing Mexico's variety of campgrounds and best routes for getting to them. The guide also does a more than adequate job providing travellers with basic travel protocols and helpful toned-down travel advisories to campers who wish to explore Mexico with an RV or Tent--although the latter, less so.The only reason I didn't give the guide 5 stars is becauseI am a loyal devotee of the Peoples Guide to Mexico which i started reading in tbe 1970's!

An absolutely necessary resource for
It’s reasonable to downgrade ratings, as some have done, because the edition is 10 years old, and things change. HOWEVER, I could not have successfully driven my RV to Mexico last year without the knowledge I gained from this book. The way I see it, you can spend a lot of time scrolling through fluff and ads and opinions on free web sites, or you can get this book—I don’t know any other option.

The cover curls up
We just traveled through Belize and the Yucatan and we used this book to stay in a few campgrounds, which worked out great! There were a few places that no longer existed, and the website that the book refers to is no longer active either. My biggest complaint about the book though is the cover and binding. It is a very thin cover with a thin plastic layer and being a traveling book they get a lot of wear and tear. After just a few days the book started to curl up on both the front and back and now it is impossible to un-curl. I have had my other Mexico traveling book for a couple of years and it still looks great... and they were side by side on this trip.

A must for planning any Mexican holiday
We found the Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping a very complete tool in helping us plan our first vacation in Mexico. It is very well structured with preliminary chapters covering a multitude of details like road network, security, food provisioning, do's and don't, border crossing procedures, listing of additional references, etc...The listing of campsites by regions contains the right amount of information required to buld a short list prior to the final selection of a campsite especially when combined with the area or town description. The format of the book is handy and the quality and finish of the paper used makes it resistant to wear and tear normally associated with the extensive use of that type of publications.

Somewhat inaccurate, still a roadmap to happiness!
yes I know it’s old, yes I know it’s inaccurate because it’s old. But hey, we all gotta dream right? This book will help you plan your perfect mexican camping adventure, just be sure to supplement your knowledge and planning with readily available internet resources.

Thorough coverage of RV camps
Some 400 Mexican RV parks are detailed. This latest edition seems to be written for owners of large RVs and there is minimum treatment of tent camping or it is ignored. For instance, the Quintana Roo coast is known for beach camping in tents but there is little to no treatment of the area, in fact no mention of Tulum in the index. This is a good book for older folks in a big rig.

Big List of RV Parks
This book is mostly a big list of RV parks. This is probably very useful to those traveling by RV (or car campers who don't mind RV parks I suppose) but most tent campers won't find much value here. There is some good info on border crossing formalities but that info is also available on sites like drivetheamericas.com.I ordered the book based on the reviews here as well as the "or Tent" part of the title but I'm pretty disappointed.I won't be bringing it with me on my trip. Since I don't need electricity or dump stations I'm just going to find places to camp as I go.

Review of 'Mexican Camping' by Mike and Terri Church
This book is a must for anyone considering an exploratory trip to Mexico. We just returned from a visit to the West Coast, Sonora and Sinoloa, to check out the beaches. We found this book indispensible for guiding us to some great places. Our GPS didn't work there, and there are very few landmarks, with vast distances between cities. That fact, and the amount of back-road driving, makes it extremely necessary to have precise directions for getting from one location to another. We could not have done it without this book.

Excellent
As totally new to the R.V. scene this year , we thoroughly enjoyed all the tips , advice on border crossings and roads as well as details on the many camping sites throughout Mexico . We plan on visiting in the near future and Mike's book is a wealth of information . We are grateful for all the research he has put into his book .

Planning for the big Mexico trip.
I was surprised it was published in 2009. Things have changes a lot since then. Not sending it back cause friends already wrote in it.

Essentiel mais surtout pas à jour...
Beaucoup de camping sont fermé,,,, ce livre est vieux mais quand même pratique, il date de 2009,,, alors beaucoup de choses ont changer,,, une mise à jours serait très importante.
