This is the first book on Fly Tying which I have purchased. I found the book to be well written, with excellent photographs of the specimens under discussion, and a well constructed description of the elements for each Fly. The spiral binding is especially useful for both the average reader and the budding or experienced Fly Tier, as it allows the book to be laid down without the pages flipping over, or damage to the binding.

A friend of mine shared me a copy of the book in a pdf format. I used it too much so I preferred buying a hard copy of this indispensable book. Valid fly-tying examples also for us Italian fly fishing people.

mainly ammerican in nature not particularly suitable for british fly anglers.Some patterns Ok but too american.

In my humble opinion, this is the best basic fly tying book ever. I teach fly tying to adults and teens and give a copy to every student.Bill

A great book at a great price

I already had this book years ago and got another one to give to a friend. It’s a simple lay out for paterns and there’s uses. I highly recommend this book for all levels of fly tying
