PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call Paperback – August 20, 2013

This book has very thorough coverage of the Disney Cruise Line in general, written by people that have experience with the different types of cruises. One of the most helpful sections is the coverage of shore excursions. Having taken several Disney cruises myself I have found that (even with Disney) they can be hit or miss. The authors go on the excursions and provide feedback or they interview others to get a rating for each excursion. It helps significantly in terms of maximizing the use of your time while on the cruise. They discuss the layouts of the boats, how to get to and from the terminals, where to stay before embarking, how and what to pack, etc. There is not really any topic that is not covered in some detail. I would recommend this to anyone looking at going on a Disney cruise and wanting a "refresher" course or any first time cruiser.

I ordered the PassPorter for the Disney Cruise Line as I had LOVED the PassPorter publications for the Disney parks. I have planned more than one Disney family trip and the information came in very handy. We had planned a Disney Cruise and I wanted to be prepared to maximize our trip.Pros - I was not disappointed by this publication… The book came quickly in the mail. It was full of information about all of the Disney Cruise ships as well as the ports of call. We used many of the tips and suggestions both in planning our trip and while we were aboard the ship. It helped us find our way around the ship. It helped us find the best activities and the best deals our entire trip. The book was well organized so that we could find exactly what we needed. We used the reference continually on our trip! There were handy maps and suggestions for the ports. These helped us know when we needed to purchase excursions and when we could explore on our own.I have recommended the PassPorter books to several friends who are planning trips.Cons – The only real negative is that it is hard to keep all of the information about some of the ports and activities. WE have used the book now for two cruises and I should have ordered the up to date version of the book. One of the cruises we took was the first to several ports so there could not be much information included about the options for excursions.The observations and points in this review are completely my own. I take my reviews serious and will only provide accurate and honest feedback. I am not connected to this company or any of the companies of products that I review in any way. This is by far the BEST guidebook on the subject of Disney Cruises. As a novice cruiser, I was intimidated when planning my cruise. But this book covers everything I need to know: Itinerary planning, packing lists, passport requirements, stateroom descriptions, ports of call and excursions, menus, tipping, dress codes, entertainment, ship details - amazing! I LOVE this book, and I am all ready for cruise - can't wait!

This book is the best! It has all the details you need to plan a Disney cruise. Of course, it includes the basics about each ship and types of cabins -- but there are also great tips about excursions and things to do while on the ships. Use this to help plan the best vacation ever!

The book reads like an ad for Disney Cruise Line. I don't think it was edited by a pro because there are many basic grammar and punctuation errors. Two or three times, I couldn't even figure out what they were trying to say.There is some good info, but there is a lot of unnecessary, peppy filler material. There are also pictures of the authors scattered throughout the book...I'm not sure why.I don't think I'll get another one of these.

This is a great book and a must-have for anyone planning a Disney Cruise. I used a previous edition of this guide to plan a Disney Cruise in 2011 and the recommendations and information provided in the guide were spot-on. This guide is an excellent investment for anyone thinking about taking a Disney Cruise!

Overall, I really like this book. It's a great intro to the DCL for anyone new to cruising (like me). What I didn't like was the layout of the book-- the tabs are on the side, shaded gray. I also wasn't happy with "updates" or new info being grayed in the volume. I found the print to be a little difficult to read. But the most important part-- the information-- is actually very helpful, esp the parts on the excursions. I really like the fact the book takes you from booking your trip to arrival to eating to activities to leaving. Worth buying if you are considering DCL.

This book has so much information for our first Disney Cruise...information that we would not have known otherwise. So very, very helpful and necessary for first-time cruisers on Disney. Bought one for ourselves and 3 more for our children who will be traveling with us.
