Very cheap
To be totally honest here. I own several citizen watches. This is the most cheapest I've ever touched. It even feels cheap... The band is a 20 dollar band 35 at most. There is nothing to the watch. Any dark areas you can't see the time. I give 0 stars. This watch was made exclusively for Amazon. Don't waste your money. The watch is worth maybe 50 dollars. Cheap

The dark side of time
I generally go for contrast for easy reading in less-than-perfect lighting. However, the all dark Citizen Chandler chronograph looked attractive and worth a try. The $350 price tag puts this watch in the higher range for basic chronographs, at least when ignoring luxury brands.First off, the watch comes in a sturdy box, attractive enough for a present. It presents the watch well (once opened) on a black foam pillow and all is well. After removing a few protective plastic foils, it's ready to be worn (in my case literally since the band is at the right size (for a medium large boned adult man of 6 ft 2").The caliber H500 movement is a quartz controlled electronic drive that is powered by a battery. It is recharged via the integrated solar panel (dial) when sufficient light is available. If not, the watch is rated to last 6 months before refusing to work. This is generally not a problem unless Winter clothing "permanently" covers your wrist. As with any solar watch, the comfort of not having to replace the battery comes with the responsibility to provide enough light for charging. The (tiny) second hand (bottom sub-dial) skips in 2 sec. increments when the battery gets low.The H500 movement is relatively basic as it provides the time (shocker, I know), a single time stop watch and the day of the month. That covers most needs and the wearer most likely is more interested in the black on black looks. If that sounds like it's difficult to read, well, it is. In bright sunlight it's quite okay but as light gets scarce a quick glance at the watch for the time is likely unanswered, especially of anyone with less than 20/20 vision. The older one gets, vision in dim light often suffers and anyone over 50 should carefully consider if the cool looks are worth the hassle (at least if you actually wear your watch for telling the time). The large second hand (main dial) is for the stop watch only. I generally prefer that to be also used for standard time, but it may save battery or you simply may prefer for it not to move when in normal time mode. The red tip helps it a bit to be recognized, but not by much. The date is one of the easier parts to read of the watch, but since this is a basic quartz movement, you must adjust the date manually for months with less than 31 days. At least Citizen made it easy to do by pulling the crown out only one click to adjust days (and maintain the AM/PM), while two clicks allow for setting the time.Speaking of visibility, such a low-contrast dial is nearly impossible to read in low light situations (like going to the movies). The luminescent hands of the main dial and the markers are fairly dim. Direct sunlight will bring them to live, but not for long. Less than full sunlight returns fairly dim results. The band feels solid, even if it's a bit narrow for my wrist. The clasp, on the other hand, feels a bit out of place and more reminiscent of a lower price range. Time will tell how the black coating of the stainless steel cover holds up. At least in the past I never had good luck with that. Finally, it should be noted that there is no manual included. Citizen apparently assumes for everyone to have a smart phone (iOS or Android) to download the app that could answer questions you may have. After initial connection issues (server error) it allowed me to register the watch for the 5-year warranty and to view the manual. That is fairly odd as it seems to be a (small print) PDF of what appears the format for a printed version. The watch doesn't need a manual, but with such a reliance on the app it may deserve a bit more attention to detail.

a super sleek/sophisticated looking Eco-drive for the zombie apocalypse or any survival situation
The media could not be loaded. Super classy field/trench watch. Has the military look, with a more traditional chronograph, mixed with some class and sophistication.PROS:> At first I thought the watch face was a bit busy, but after I figured out what each sub dial did, it all made sense and is rather simple and works very well.3 sub dials:- Sub dial at the 2 being for 24 hours- Sub dial at the 10 being for chronograph- Sub dial at 6 o'clock position being a sub second dial for time- The second hand indicates time elapsed on the chronograph> Love the dark face and the contrasting red tip on the end of the second hand - very sleek indeed.> Push buttons and crown are pretty traditional to set the chronograph and work well - top and bottom are a bit small, but work well.> Date window is a little small but you can see it and honestly - I like it being smaller.> Hands glow in the dark, but I was unable to get a photo that really looked good.If you are looking at Eco-drive watches, you already know how they work and how good they are. The eco-drive capacitor uses both solar and artificial light to use and store energy. Supposedly one charge will last up to 6 months. As long as you don't have it shut inside a box or drawer, it can keep going - even if it's just sitting on your dresser in your bedroom, so this watch will last forever, without the need to ever change it's battery.>Stainless steel band gives this watch some weight. Great craftsmanship.OVERALL -Traditional chronograph that uses Eco-drive technology. This watch is an excellent choice, as it hits the spot with both form and function. I love the "military look" and functionality you find in a really good field watch, mixed with a watch I can wear when I am dressed for the office or a formal dinner party. LOVE the black. Very sleek looking - but the watch is designed to be usable and it's functionality matches it's quality in looks. Big thumbs up!

Modern, Elegant, Chic ...
Let's face it, our phones provide us with the time ... our watches provide us with elegance. Watches have become the equivalent of complex bracelets: they are gorgeous accessories that offer a polished appearance. While they started to become relics of the past, they have recently made a huge resurgence. More than ever, the declare status and refinement. Now, this particular watch offers all of that old-school class but with a modern flair. The style is streamline: the profile is super low. The band avoids that awkward, early-2000s "chunkiness" and is slimmer and more contemporary. And, the monochromatic style is surprisingly chic. This complements a tight white tee as easily as it does a a black sports coat. Now, the band is very, very large in circumference. Therefore, those with larger wrists should have no worries about finding extra links. And, those with smaller wrists will most likely need to have some links removed at a jeweler: three, in this case. If you are careful, many jewelers who sell Citizen will do this gratis. So, you are not obligated to tackle this project on your own.The initial presentation is outstanding. (I included photos). If you are considering this for a gift, the box and sleeve are a nice bonus. This is a versatile, sharp piece. It will easily make for a grand edition to your watch collection. Highly recommended!
